First quarter 2021 full sized truck sales are as follows: Ram has literally trounced Chevrolet by selling 148,836 trucks as to Chebbys 126,591.

I’m assuming Ford is still in the top spot? How about GMC?

Exactly, Ford is on top, combine GMC and Chevy together because they split GM buyers and are are the same truck/company and they are on top of Ram.

Ford - 203,797
GM Combined - 189,508
Ram - 148,836

I have no brand loyalty, I like them all..

I was recently truck shopping and when I compare RAM with Ford / GM you still get much more 'bang for your buck' with RAM. I even test drove a Tacoma but could never go back to that small cabin and buckboard ride.

When i decided that i needed a New truck in 2009
I went to a Chevy dealer wearing dirty work jeans & a Camo jacket that had seen better days. I wear my hair down below my shoulder & my beard is almost as long.
The Chevy salesman walked out into the parking lot & i could tell that he really did not want to talk to me. His answers to questions were sort of Blah, I asked about the Chevys brake system & i had to pry it out of him just what type of brakes a particular Chevy had, he told me that it had rear drum brakes. I asked if he was sure & he mumbled something, i wished him a good day.

I then went directly to a Toyota dealer, i really wanted to know more about the foreign trucks & how they might work for me.
Well there were several salesmen standing under one of those shade canopies drinking coffee & not one of them came to talk to me. Then i was heading back to the sidewalk where my 1999 Chevy truck was & they started waving & shouting. I got in the Chevy & left.

Then i drove up the road to the Dodge Dealership & several salesmen were headed my way, they gladly told me about the Ram. I told them that i would like to look around the lot. one of them asked if i wanted him to walk with me, i declined. I walked all around the main sales lot & i walked back to where the 2500 models were parked. When i reached the far corner of that lot, i spotted a 1500, it was very dirty & it had a soft tire. I liked it & went back to that salesman & asked about it being dirty & having a soft tire, he more or less told me that no one was interested in buying it, so it was parked out of the way.
I asked him if it could be started up & he went to get the keys, the battery was completely dead.
I made one heck of a good deal on that unwanted Ram & drove it home

I see more new Rams than Ford or Chevy in my area.
But Old Fords and Chevys are everywhere...

Yeah certain areas around the country favor one brand over another or have a bigger following. Where I am at it's hands down Ford and Chevy, new and old. Same with the state I grew up in, mostly Ford and Chevy with very few Rams. I'm pretty sure that stands true throughout the south east though.

It seems the chip shortages may be affecting Chevy truck production more than Ram truck production, at least in my area. That could be part of why Ram is beating Chevy by that much. My local Chevy dealer has zero new trucks on their lot right now. They normally have 20 or so new trucks on the lot at any given time. My local Ram dealer has 17 new Ram 1500's on their lot as of this morning. Which is a pretty normal number for them. I live in a small town, so they are all low-volume dealers. I contacted the Chevy dealer to test drive a truck a couple weeks ago and they told me they have none on the lot, and aren't sure when they will have any come in. The Ram dealership is still receiving new trucks to replace the ones they are still selling. The sales rep I spoke to said that their business is as good right now as it ever is for this time of year.

I used to love Tacomas. Until one day I was dead set on buying a new one, and then I realized that a full size ram with a dang hemi in it was cheaper than this little toy truck I was looking at.

The stock level at the Ram dealer will probably drop off. Both Ford and Ram will be shuttering their truck assembly plants for and estimated 3 weeks. Both also have plans to build trucks without the parts effected by the chip shortage, then install when back in stock.
I haven't looked into what GM is doing but they've been losing ground to Ram for the past couple of years.

I wonder how much seeing a nice looking truck driving around in your area influences people to buy that brand of truck? I have had quite a few people stop me to look and ask questions about my truck, 3 in the past few days. I was the first one in my area to have the new body style, at least that I know of. Now I see them all over the place. The neighbor up the street sold his Ford and bought a RAM lol.

Rams Sterling Heights Assembly Plant is still going as fast as they can on the 2021 Ram 5th Gen
Those Rams may not have everything functioning that was ordered on them, like Surround View, because of the microprocessor shortage

The Warren Assembly Plant that build the 2021 Ram Classics is shut down, they are considering opening that plant back up on the week of April 18
At that time, they hope to have more chips & they can install them in the Rams that are already built & are in storage

..............................................................

Vehicles impacted by Stellantis’ production halts include the Chrysler 300 sedan and Pacifica and Voyager minivans, Dodge Charger and Challenger cars, Jeep Cherokee and Compass SUVs and Ram 1500 Classic pickup. A newer version of the Ram 1500 remains in production at a different Michigan plant.

My dealer is the oldest one in Iowa I'm told.
Mine is the first Power Wagon they've ever had on the lot.
I had to order it.
(I've still only seen one other PW and that is a 2015 I think (with the confetti graphics) and that was in Wisconsin...)
The salesman said there was a ton of interest in it while it was there, but as soon as they saw the price and tow rating they lost interest and either ordered a Tradesman (for work) or a Limited ( for hauling a camper)
Still, they said it drew a lot attention to the brand.

I have been seriously shopping for a heavy duty truck for a while now..want a 2500 laramie gasser but have been looking at all brands because all the dealers around me have plenty of the most expensive versions and base models but few gas laramies or f-250 lariats or ltz/slt gm's. yesterday a ford dealer told me that they quit taking orders for 2021's and wont take orders for '22 models till June. they are a very large dealer but had only 1 f-250 laraiat with the 7.3 motor and buyers were bidding on it. the truck market is crazy..I got 2 internet quotes for more than I paid for my truck..cant sell without a new one lined up first tho.
