Hey everyone,

I hope someone can shed some light on this.

What are these? I believe they are shims.

I was underneath the back end facing the front and I pulled these from between a gap of sheet metal under the bed above the rear axle. I had to drop the spare tire.

There appeared to be a C type notch on the lower piece of metal and a hole in the above part and these shims are in between loose.

Should they be loose or bolted in?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I’ll try and get a photo of where I pulled them from.

The truck was rear ended and the body shop took the bed off the truck so I’m hoping they didn’t mess something up.

Yes, those are shims. They fit between a body panel and a frame, or between suspension pieces, etc...and are held in place sandwiched between the two pieces they are designed to keep separated.

As to which shim, can't say but I suspect between the truck bed and frame.

Give the body shop the shims. They'll figure it out. I don't think they messed anything up. Shims are made to be removed and re-used.

Turns out, they were for a 5th wheel and had no need to be on the vehicle.
