So I recently purchased a 2015 Ram 1500 Express "Blackout Edition" with 16K miles on it. Never owned a Ram or a truck for that matter before. I was looking under the hood, cleaning it a bit, and well really just trying to find out where and what everything is. So I came across two things and was hoping someone can shed some light on this. I will try to post some pics. Last time I couldn't get that to work, so we will c. Just seeing if anyone knows what these two wires go to or their function.

Thanks in advance for all the replies.

Do you have an under hood light on the passenger side of the hood?

^^Beat me to it. I agree.

No light, but if it just plugs into that, then I will get one, where is the switch in the cab to turn it on, or is it on the light?

It's got a mercury switch, it turns on automatically when you open the hood.

The first one looks like a mercury switch for after market remote start

Yoda,

That makes sense. Keep truck from starting with hood up. Don't have a cutoff on my aftermarket remote start. I probably should get one. The other one is definitely for the hood light kit.

Well if it is a remote start switch as you say, then how would I go about getting it to remote start, as I do not have or was told of that option when I bought it from the dealership. Just a useless wire now, or can I somehow figure out if the rest of the kit is on there? I know nothing of remote starts.

If you didnt get a remote (assuming you bought used) trace the wire through the firewall and see if they go to a control module. If they do get the make and model off of it and order a remote.

You press LOCK 3x not unlock. Try that make sure all doors and hood is shut), and look under the dash for a remote start brain or wiring.
