Old post but did you by this? I love the 318 had it in my 86 Ram charger and in the 99 Durango I still have. It lasts forever I have been able to kill one although mine needs the plenum repair blow by is getting worse. I would say the 318 is one of the most reliable engines ever made and the 360 is so similar it is no wonder it is also so solid. I actually had the 4.7L too and it was very good but more complex so would be a little more intensive to rebuild I presume. The only Dodge engine I would steer clear of is the 2.7L. I hope you bought this it is nice. You always have nice trucks.

The Magnum 5.2 was released in 1992. The 5.2 was the first of the Magnum upgraded engines, followed in 1993 by the 5.9 V8 and the 3.9 V6.

At the time of its introduction, the 5.2L Magnum created 230 hp (170 kW) @ 4,400rpm and 300 lb-ft of torque (410 N-M) @ 3,200rpm.[3] Production of this engine lasted until 2003, when it was completely replaced by the newer 4.7L PowerTech SOHC V8 engine.[10]

General characteristics:

Engine Type: 318 cid 90' V-8 OHV
Bore & Stroke: 3.91 x 3.31 in..(99.3 x 84.0 mm)
Displacement: 318 cu.in. (5.2 L)
Firing Order: 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2
Compression Ratio: 9.1 :1
Lubrication: Pressure Feed - Full Flow Filtration
Engine Oil Capacity: 5.0 Qts. (4.7 L) with Filter
Cooling System: Liquid - Forced Circulation - Ethylene Glycol Mixture

The 318's I've owned were bullet proof. Not much in the HP & Torque departments but very durable.
I'm clearing the field to replace the heads on my 318 Magnum now my question is brother is do I have to take off my water pump to do so. ( I'm a first timer)because it's brand new it's just been put in not even 2 months ago so I don't want to mess with all that and that has nothing to do with the heads. I really appreciate some feedback.

I've read several times that the 318 Magnum is the third best small block. Obviously the 350 and the 302 are before our "Mopar Power" 318 but as it states it's only because there's more aftermarket parts for those engines available which is a fact cuz I've owned all of them and by far the Dodge Magnum has the least amount of parts as we all know. It's all about the build and what combination you have that's just my opinion.
