Traded the 2015 1500 in for 2018 2500. Towing our Lance 2375 travel trailer is a lot easier now269399aedfec51f013e69b9b6ea14438.jpgebe682bfa22da7a125a410b45cd01596.jpg

I traded a 2019 F150 PowerStroke 3.0L (3,000 miles) for a 2019 Ram 3500 SRW Tradesman 6.7L (9 miles)... I'm pulling a 5500 lbs trravel trailer, and the F150 was a white knuckle experience to keep between the lines. There's a lot to be said for a longer wheelbase, an overall heavier vehicle, and a much heavier front end that doesn't have problems tracking in corners and over bumps. Night and day difference in ride quality and (I feel like) my life expectancy extended greatly between the two while pulling.

I've had people tell me the issue was the hitching, but in everything I've read, if you adjusted the WD hitching so the truck and trailer are riding level then you're good to go. The WD hitch was a requirement for the F150, but I feel like it's an option on the 3500. That 3500 is so rock steady, and has zero issues pulling my trailer which is FAR FAR less than the 20k GTWR at 5500 lbs.

The 3500 has an engine brake, where the F150 didn't, and that engine brake kicks this loads ass square between the cheeks. You have it on and press the brake and you're slowing down in a hurry!

I feel like it's overkill, and it's ok for it to be overkill when talking about your families safety. It cost me a ton, especially trading in a new truck that didn't work out for another new truck. I lost the entire equity of my original trade in doing it, but I would never have been happy with that F150. I would always regret buying it, and I have zero regrets in this RAM. I thought maybe I would save some money and buy a truck that on paper looked like it would be closer matched to the load. You ask everyone what they think about the load with what you're buying and they all tell you it's fine! You're good to go! In reality they'll tell you anything to get it sold.

So you're saying that a RAM 3500 rides better than a fairly new F150? WOW, that's not saying much for Ford.

Fairly new? The 2019 F150 had less than 3000 miles on it. In terms of ride quality, I'm speaking of ride quality while towing. The F150 felt like you're on a boat, and tended to steer into corners - once you started a corner, the steering wheel became easier to turn into that corner and wanted to turn tighter.

In my opinion, it's a car with a 5ft box on the back. My original truck was a 2011 F150 v8 5.0L. loved that truck, but I didn't want to buy a new trailer and go cross country on a gasser with 150k miles on crossing my fingers there wouldn't be a breakdown.

Not the case, really. Yes, it is certainly ideal to have everything level when hitched up. However, that dosnt mean the wd hitch is set up properly. The wd hitch is for just that, distributing weight from the rear axle back onto the front axle. When setup properly, the front axle will basically weight the same when hitched up as it does when not towing. And if the hitch isnt setup properly, you can have a very poor towing experience.

But yes, the ram should be night and day better for towing than the f150 was.

the trades i was quoted ranged from $30,000 for the 1500 to $39,000 and the best deal was for a trk just the way i would order it, so in 6 months i lost about $4,000 on the trade from 1500 to 2500

Traded a 2012 for a 2019. Love the '19 but I'll admit I still look at the previous Gens and miss the styling a bit. I know I could have gotten the Classic but it would only be prolonging the inevitable.

Ladies...

I traded a 2015 Jaguar F type R for my 2019 Limited with the Cummins. The sales guy actually asked me if I sure of what I was about to do. Let's just say that having a colonoscopy at the "stealership" was quite the experience! On the plus side, they allowed me to drive myself home afterwards.

Did you think it would even be remotely close to the same power as the cummins? Didnt test drive it?
