What do you carry in the bed in winter?

I run Cooper M&S tires and I put 1000 lbs in. You can't tell that its there until you get into the bad stuff. My truck doesn't even squat with that in it. And I didn't buy it for the gas mileage so that doesn't matter either... I do find it humorous that people will buy a heavy truck with a big motor, then come on here and nickel and dime and beg for something to improve their gas mileage! LOL

A 200 lb cap, although technically not *in* the bed...
What size of bed and brand of cap do you have. I have a 6.4 Lear didn’t know what it weighed this will be the first winter with the cap and I am hoping it will help with traction.

I had a 03 SLT QC 2WD with full Leer toppper and cannot say it made much of a diff in the traction department, that I noticed.

For those that might be thinking of loading up the rear of the box with traction weight keep this word in mind “inertia”. When that extra weight gets going in the wrong direction it will tend to want to keep going in that direction.

I went all last year with nothing but snow in the back and it did fine.
I have a fiberglass topper on it now that weighs about 200lbs so it should do ok.

Hard tonneau cover and 15 cinder blocks in the bed if it gets bad enough. We had snow last year so probably won't have to worry about it again for another 8-10 years unless climate change has an impact(LOL)I would love to see some snow right now especially since its been in the 90's here all week.

~250# hitch, recovery/winter gear and pull hitch in one box and other one is empty for shopping to keep the Sheps from eating everything. If it gets bad (+10" around here), anything can get thrown in there.

I get a decent amount of snow. My 2007 1500 4.7 didn’t need anything in the rear bed, 4x4 took care of my needs. But now I have a 2012 2500 6.7, not sure if the rear will need any extra weight.

I put my ice fishing tent, ice auger, ice sled with my gear and a propane heater. Probably weighs 200 pounds and it's gotten me to every frozen lake I wanted to fish.

Around town just my roadside assistance card, but when I head up north where its more remote I load up. Tire chains, flares, tools, warm clothes, cans of soup, a fondue set with extra candles for warming up soup, melting snow into water and heating the cab in a pinch, cel booster, uhf radio, spare gas, tow strap.
