The funny part it, he's probably 100% correct!
That or the water bottle thing... IMHO, that's probably too far to the rear of the door to be an effective holster.

That's like the 2 little cubbies that my 2013 had in the dashboard (one close to the middle and one outboard on the passenger side). They were really only big enough to hold a hi-cap pistol mag in each, but they were too visible for that purpose if you weren't in the car.
