Good afternoon Ladies and Gents. I have a '08 1500 5.7 3.92 rear end Ram. I am looking to purchase a 20'-25' travel trailer around the 5k lb mark. I tow a 1k lb '71 Cox pop up now so I don't need any accutriments to pull such a small trailer. What do I need to pull the 25 footer? I'm assuming a wieght distributing hitch? What's a good brand? Anti-sway bars? Do these come with the WD hitch? Am I missing anything else?

Big fan of the Equalizer 4 point WDH.
Hitch is extra but TT dealers will usually give you a break on price when you buy a trailer. A 22 to 25 foot trailer would work well with your truck. I went to a 3/4 ton when I moved up to over 30 foot..

Yeah he said they could work on the price if I purchased a WDH from them when I find my TT.

WDH for sure. Do you already have an electric trailer brake controller?

Yup, I'll put it on the list. I may just call Camping world tomorrow and see if they'll install what I need.

Definitely WDH and trailer brakes. You should probably be ok other than that. You might want to go to a CAT scale just to see how well the hitch is set up and make any adjustments you might need but with a 5000lb trailer I don't think you would be too far off either way.

My son has the Husky TS Centerline WDH and my step-son has the Equalizer WDH. They are both very similar and either would be great. The anti-sway is built into them with the included bars. They run about $500-600 for the whole thing.

A trip to the scale is a good idea as soon as you get the trailer. Then once the trailer is completely set-up, wet, loaded with the stuff you need for camping another trip to the scale will be in order. You will be amazed at how much you gear etc will add to the trailer weight. Make you final adjustments based on the "true" weight.

Most states require a break-away switch and electric brakes on anything over 2000 lbs today. Good luck,
I forgot to add, like mentioned earlier, when you're loaded, hit a CAT scale and weigh each axle, you'll be surprised.
