My last puter before this one was an ancient full tower, with an AMI 2009 motherboard. I tweaked systems and components, and tweaked and tweaked, but it just got to the point could tweak no more, and winders 11 coming out kind of doomed it. SO I bought a "fancy" gaming machine, since U just cannot really get a General PC anymore. Of course I had to get a stand a long CD writer/player. Than I went in after all updated, and turned off every silly lil gaming junk running not needed, so at least it is close to a basic PC and not all the flim flam running. Guess showing my age.
Just an FYI, although the win 11 update says your PC isn't compatible, win 10 on an older PC can indeed be updated to win 11 for free.

I have done 5 of them and one of the PC's (my old laptop workhorse) is 16 years old.

Very true, many older PCs are able to run windoze 11, they just require a few tweaks.
For those not familiar, windoze 11 was created by microsoft to generate more PC sales, no other reason.
As part of that ploy, they insisted that older PCs were incompatible.

This is similar to google insisting you only use the playstore to update your android device because downloading apk files is dangerous and will definitely infect your stupid phones.

That is such a fierce lie and crock. There are several locations, far more reputable than google to download apk files for the stupid phones. I have google and the playstore locked out of my phone and can find downloads elsewhere for most apps.

At my former hangout, tenforums.com, there was a group who developed a challenge sport to see who could manage to run windoze 11 on the oldest PC.

If I put a picture in a file, it’s gone into some black hole
If I am using the phone I will be already here and hit the little sq box at the top of the post and hit picture or camera if I haven’t already taken the picture

If I am on the lap top, same thing, but if the picture is just on the phone, then it’s a problem for me

My problem is, I have tweaked this 2009 AMI motherboard as far as it will go. I can prob force Winders 11 on it, but it runs at dino speed, lol.

I would have to pull and replace motherboard, new chips/chipset, memory, etc etc. Local PC guru said would do for like $600-$800 ish more or less, as I have a great full tower ventilated box and a 750 W PS, but an ancient 1080 TI vid card, lmao.

But it is a great backup if I remember to feed the (hamsters) running in the cage inside the PC.

FTR: That is my backup describing. I am on a Skytech Shadow 4 gaming machine, that I purchased for $899 from Walmart. My backup in back bedroom.

Computers aren't too smart, by themselves. They're usually just a box of micro-logic circuits performing a task you request.

Why don't we explore how you save pictures and figure out where they're all disappearing to?

So as to not upset those who are pretending our trucks don't have anything to do with computers, send me a PM and we can try to get your laptop handling pictures better and to your preference.

Get either a lightning cord to usb either for I phone or android. Plug in phone than plug into PC. A notice should come up on phone to allow access. Allow access find pics in folder on phone. Make new file on pc and copy pics from phone and paste into file on pc.

If not sure one of us can talk you through the process. Make sure you copy unless U no longer want pic cause putting a pic back onto a phone is monster PITA.

Don't be trying to freak him out, moving files around isn't that much effort.

I agree that copying is usually a better plan unless you know exactly what you're doing.

No, just telling him to buy and inquire. Putting a PIC back onto a I Phone after removal from PC is insane. There are workarounds, which I learned, just a pain to do. Of course, I am not da smartest BOIRD, maybe there is a way to put a pic back onto I Phone simply, just not found. I have NO clue on Androids, do not have one. Also why I related: he can buy cord and ask someone, we can walk him through it, easy peasy.

ADDED: Why I will not upgrade I Phone ne more since all da NEW ONES come with friggin Built in AI.

I-phone. There's your problem.
My Android I can just plug it into laptop USB and access all the files as if it's an accessory drive. Swap pics back and forth no problem.

What
If you’re having trouble with posting stuff ask your kids for help
my 77 YOA neighbor does when he has issues, asks his daughter, or better yet, his granddaughter, who is like 9-10.

Yeah, I got U, I phone does not play well with a lot of systems, especially Android based, say like a TV. Making it integrate with my TCL TV a nightmare, but I find CarPlay in the trucks works fine. But helps I have a UCONN 4 plain Jane radio, and no OTA's either, I am still running same OS from when truck built April 2018.

ADDED: I would have to PAY DEALER to do any updates on truck (U Connect OS), and I like the old axiom: "If it ain't broke, don't fix it". My SA at dealership told me long time ago, leave it alone if working OK (Radio), and I have heeded that advice profusely.

Guess I opened a can of worms, I do have lots of cords, I phone is a 7+, main reason I have it is for the hearing aids, otherwise I could still be using my nice old flip phone.
BTW fellow across the street is a computer service fellow.
Lap top is a new windows 11, as the touch screen on my 10 went to hell.
BTW that was 2018 vintage , almost new in sock age.
Back in the stone age ,I knew what I was doing.

I Phone 14 Pro (will not upgrade, as all NEWER phones have built in AI, no TY).
