While Mobil 1 is an excellent oil it doesn't list the FCA MS - 6395 spec. I don't know if they would try to hold that against you if you had engine issues under the powertrain warranty.
My powertrain warranty is gone. I'm at almost 70k miles, it is 5/60k warranty.

Then Mobil 1 it is...
I used Mobil 1 in every car I had for the last 20 or so years. I also used it in my riding mower, snow blower, generator, and my 4 cylinder air compressor. Hell I wonder how it would be mixed with vinegar on a salad....:D

As for my Ram, I'm still in my 3/36 for a couple months and have a lifetime maxcare so I used Quaker State Ultimate Durability 5-20 with a Fram Ultra filter. That oil has great reviews and a good amount of moly and is around 20 bucks for a 5 qt jug.

How does that QSUD stuff match up to PUP?

QSUD moly 175ppm moly across weights
0w40 PUP 250ppm moly
5w20 and 5w30 PUP 70ppm moly

Yes these are apprx, newest formula qsud boosted moly, only 0w40 PUP has more and we know why, that fca and pennzoil made that the hemi specific formula, other weights PUP average moly.

Actually Burla was wrong, QSUD even has more than that, lol. Stuff is always changing, google pqia and the brand and weight, most of them have a uoa. Bottom line, qsud upped their commitment to moly.

Actually just maybe I was right the first time, at second glance that isn't sn+ oil, so maybe the latest version was the 175 I have seen as well. basically, don't trust Burla just look it up if you are curious )

So that QSUD has that same amount of 252ppm Moly in their 5w-20? If so, I may just switch to that but what is the Moly content in that Chrysler-friendly Redline 5w-20 and even the Amsoil SS 5w-20?

I know, I could spend a few hours googling this stuff but you’re one of the oil gurus here so that’s why I’m asking you.

My belief, current qsud 170ppm moly, amsoil 250ppm, redline 450+ppm, that is high performance redline. The professional series redline is no good, zero moly. Obviously something 66 forced on redline. adding lubegard will boost any oil 100ppm moly above current level.

For the 6.4 hemi, is the 0w-40 redline the recommended oil?

What specific redline is the one folks are using to quiet the tick? It sounds like from some of the posts, not all redline is created equal?

I would try a run of QSUD 5W20 just for the hell of it if I were you. I ran the QSUD 5W30 in my truck for 3500 miles and it was pretty quiet, no startup tick at all. I might run it for a little while without the Lubeguard and then put a bottle in after a couple thousand miles and see if you can tell a difference. Of course you could always just go with the Redline 5W20 do a UOA and then get back to us. If I could safely run the 5W20 in my truck it would make record keeping for the warranty a hell of a lot easier.

I use Castrol full synthetic and Mobil1 oil filters in everything I own and have for many many years. My last Dodge truck had 260k miles when I traded it, my 06 Toyota Corolla had over 750k miles when I replaced it with a 2020. The Toyota is still running today.

I think as long as you use top shelf oil & filters and perform maintenance on schedule, the actual brand doesn't make much difference. I do believe that performing my own maintenance does make a difference.

Pup5w30 with 6k miles oci. I have the standard wix filter which I changed every 3k miles. Planning to do an oci next spring as my 2017 will have 40k miles.

Not to introduce an off topic element, I put qsuds in a GMC v6. Wow, quieten the engine down in 500 miles and has improved the fuel economy.

I am not a qsuds fan, but for this application it worked very well.

I was impressed.

I guess I must be fortunate. I have had 2 5.7 Ram Hemi's, a 2003 and a 2013. Both had over 100,000 mile when the vehicles were replaced.
The 2003 went 7500 miles between oil/filter changes. The 2013 got changed at 10,000 mile intervals. I used Walmart Supertech 5w30 full synthetic oil in both with Supertech oil filters. Never experienced any ticking or any other oil/lubrication related problems with either truck.

I should also note that I tow heavy and frequently averaging about 5-7000 miles per year towing.

I now have a 6.7 Cummins and if Supertech made the proper oil for a Cummins diesel I would consider it.

I wouldn't use the word "fortunate", I just think 100,000 miles is barely broken in. Any vehicle these days from kia to ford to lexus ought to run well past 100K without a single problem, even with some slight abuse in terms of oil changes.
