Only use 93. Keep the engine at optimal performance and I actually get better gas mileage I did a little survey in for me that’s what works

Run 89 octane, and try to stay with high usage stations, not Mom and Pop.....

I used 91 Shell Nitro and for me its the Best compared to Chevron with Techron. Feel my truck more responsive and super smooth @ idle

Doesn't anyone know what the octane rating actually means? It is not a measure of the btu available from the fuel. It is only a measure of pre-ignition which results in engine knock which is damaging to the truck. The higher the compression ratio of an engine the more prone it is to pre-ignition of the gas when it first is injected into the hot cylinders of the engine. The higher the compression ratio the higher the recommended octane fuel that is recommended.

If a lower than recommended octane gas is used the computer will retard the spark automatically to compensate and try to prevent pre-ignition and engine knock. The result will be less power and probably fewer miles per gallon.

But if an engine is designed for 87 octane gasoline and one decides to put in a higher octane gas, then all they are doing is adding to the riches of the Koch brothers who already have billions of dollars and own our government so they do not need your charity. And with the money you save you can have the local tire shop put 100% nitrogen in the truck tires or invest in bitcoin.

87, not a tow truck for me, Ram runs fine on it. 13 cents a litre more for 89 it's not going to happen.

When I had my Victory Magnum bike, it was supposed to require 91 I think. Fk that noise unless it pinged on me.I ran 87 on it and unlike the Ram no built in timing retard to compensate. A proper tune for the engine did a better job than premium fuel ever would. I kept a bottle of Lucas octane booster with me on trips in case I ran into some questionable gas.

    But to each their own!

Yea from ur list above ull b ok I have a few boosted items that need 93. My old truck had 3 different tunes on the fly and I could never tell the difference between the 87 and 93 tune- only the tow tune u could tell a difference because it still had the WOT restriction in place and the throttle sensitivity was dialed down

87 but no corn ethanol additives here. I also use Lucas in every tank.
