Well I am in the middle of fixing the broken manifold bolts and just had a thought. Why not shortys??? So my questions are, what brand is recommended and why? My goals are long term lasting and direct bolt on no mods. I currently have a corsa exhaust on the truck is that matters. Thanks in advance for the help.

I ran Hedman Shortys on my 05 5.7 Ram and i love it. Nothing major for gains, but you can hear the difference on takeoff. Direct bolt up to the factory Y pipe and the design was the most free flowing from the research I did.

Which model of Hedman Shortys? Looks like there are a few variations: Equal length, non-equal length, black coat, stainless...

Personally, I'd go with equal length, ceramic coated shorties. The ceramic coating reduces underhood heat and the exhaust pulses improve scavenging with equal length tubing. I've priced out a set of BBK shorties (part # 40090) for my truck that meets these criteria for me, even though I'm not a fan of high polish silver under the hood, I'm not building a show truck. I just haven't purchased them yet as I have higher priority things I need to do to the truck first.

I was reading through some of the reviews posted on Amazon for the BBK headers and some people reported that the flanges are not flat/straight.

Easy enough to fix, verify the flange with a steel straight edge and plane the flange before you even try installing it. Also, I would get better gaskets than what the shorty comes with, most gaskets that come with a part are garbage in my opinion (cheapest they can find that works). I never take it for granted that anything fits and check before I use/install it.

Had the JBA ceramics put on and have no issues with the welds. Did not use there gaskets though. Love the sound.
