I have a 2021 RAM 1500 5.7 V-8 HEMI. I recently purchase a RV Camper to tow with my RAM. I was wondering what sort of gas mileage would I expect to get while towing? The camper dry weight is 5,200lbs. Any ideas and/or recommendations are greatly appreciated!
It's a camper trailer, 28ft long. RAM = 3.21 Rear axle ratio. 18inch rims, 275/65R18 BSW AS LRR Tires...? 8 Speed Auto 8HP75 TRANS. GVW Rating 7,100#.
Thank you!

It's not just the weight, it's the wind resistance that is going to get you. Not sure how big this camper is but I'd plan on sub ~10mpg for sure. Realistically probably about ~8 but there are variables...

That is my experience. With 4ndifferent trucks with three different engines and two different brands towingntwo different travel trailers...all gas engines. All got around 7.5 to 8 MPG given level ground and light winds. It goes down from there. On any trip, gas for the truck is always our biggest expense.

How fast do you drive? How quickly do you accelerate? How closely do you follow others, which impact braking frequency? How long do you spend on inclines versus downhill cruising? How often do you check air pressures, bearings, brakes, etc.? How much weight do you actually pull? How aerodynamic is your rig versus others who answer?

My point is that no value is average, and you shouldn't feel your actual is good or bad. Your results will be based on factors that can change from mile to mile and are unique to you. You are better served ensuring your rig is fully serviced, you minimize weight, and drive conservatively.

Just enjoy the trip! You have a nice ride to do it with.

Anywhere from about 8-10 MPG likely. My 2013 1500 3.55's got 7 MPG towing my sons 26' 7500lb camper so I'd expect you'd get a little better than that. But terrain, speed, etc will make a big difference.

Depending on the terrain, I get anywhere from 9-11 towing my 16ft camper. 2013 1500 Hemi 6-Speed

Thank you!

undulating Midwestern Terrain.
No MOuntains to speak to of..figure 7 to 9mpg, depedning on accelration rates, roms, passing, as well as, quality of fuel pruchased octane rating, etc

power band for th hemi is higher RPM range, 5 to 6k so that will cause economy to drop most of all.
