Wheel spacer problems?

so my truck is stock 2wd height in the front, and dropped about an inch in the rear. i have approx 31.5 inch tires (which are fairly big on this truck) and the front tires rub even on fairly gradual turns. im thinking of going with 1/2 inch spacers all around to help a little bit. i know it wont eliminate rubbing but it should lessen it and give it a little more "stance". but i have heard that a spacer even as small as 1/2 inch can put lots of stress on front end parts... im sure it will to a point but will it be enough stress that i have to worry about?

I wouldnt worry about it being that its 2wd. I really wouldnt even worry about it on a 4wd though either. Especially since your only planning on 1/2 inch spacers. I dont see there being any problems with them and if you feel any vibration or anything just take them off.

I mean it could cause some unwanted extra stress on the front end but idk for sure. Most of the time what causes unwanted stress on the front end components is bigger tires with stock front end parts. I had to rebuild be whole front end after I got bigger mud tires. Just something to think about.

ive seen people run 2 inch spacers i thats just asking for trouble... they sell 1/2 inch ones for like $80

Yeah I dont really like the big wheel spacers but in your case 1/2 inch spacers should be just fine.

You will most likely have to install longer studs to install 1/2" spacers since I don't think you can get a 1/2" adapter (you'd have to trim your wheel studs in that case)
They will add stress to your ball joints 2wd or 4wd doesn't matter

Your wheel/tires look awfully wide already so I'm assuming your rubbing on the fender/bumper. Wider is only going to make it worse

yeah i figured id need new studs, and i believe im rubbing on my inner fender. i should check exactly where though.

I had 2 inch spacers on my 1997 ram 2500 for 2 years before I got offset rims. I had 35s on 3rd gen 17s and it rub my control arms bad on turns. Never once had an issue with them and I'm very rough with my truck but make sure you get quality and what ever brand you get make sure its hub centric. I bought mine from rough county but name brand quality cost a tad more but for me I got what I paid for.

As stated above make sure the spacers you get are hub centric or you will have issues. The cheap $80 ones won't cut it. Contact Lenny at Motorsport Tech for a good set of spacers. His 10mm (3/8") spacers would work well for you and will work with stock studs.

If you're already rubbing on the inner fender spacers will make that rub worse FYI.
