I was thinking of getting new wheels when my tires wear down. Never thought i would, but kinda like the Steeled holes rims. Is Vision a good brand? What do yall recommend?

Also i have Duratracs. they have about 45% left. I like them, they have done good everytime i have gone up to the snow to go skiing. But They are heavy, and have dropped my MPG about 1-2 mpg. I was thinking of getting something little less agressive. Im 85 concrete 15 dirt, snow, rocks, mud. (going on backroads to go shooting, hunting, skiing. I was looking at the new Goodyears

Or Cooper Discoverer AT-3 LT

PS: My Duratracs are Load range D

What would i need for better fuel econ on AT tires?

I run the Cooper tires in the winter and I think they are a great all around tire. I would say that the weight of the tire would effect gas mileage more than whether they are MT or AT

Not sure what rims you have now, but I would think the steel/metal rims are heavier than aluminum.
I could be way off though!

The tires you mentioned would work wonderful for you in my opinion. Also, check out the falken at3w as well.

I went from the stock 285/70/17 duratracs on my power wagon to a set of 35x12.5/17 falken wildpeak at3w. The tires are not only a few inches taller, but they are over 20 pounds heavier a piece (duratracs 54 pounds, at3w’s 75.4 pounds!).

In my experience, they have not killed any mpg’s for some reason. They are a 3 peak snow rated tire, perform great in just about all areas (mud not so much), much quieter and smoother than the duratrac, and now at 7000ish miles I cant even see any signs of wear yet.

Stock size Falken Wildpeak AT3’s are only 6lbs heavier than OEM and snow rated. If you go a size wider or taller you’ll jump into more ply’s and lose MPG again. They ride just like OEM if you want to retain that feel and look awesome. I love mine. I have about 25k miles on them with plenty of tread for another 30k, but I’ll likely buy another set around 20-25k miles since I don’t like to push the limits.

Yep. Tire performance greatly diminishes with age and wear. I prefer to sell my tires at half tread or better. Still get decent money toward the next set, and always on a new to newish set of tires.

Worn tires suck!

No tire I've ever owned outlived the warranty. I always get my new tire cost prorated from the previous tires warranty. More often than not, you can get a decent discount on the new tires. This is especially true on HD trucks as they eat tires.
