Can you post the part number you used ?I dont remember which idler went out first on my 06 ram hemi but I do remember the originals were metal and the replacements I bought at napa were plastic
also another time when I replaced the tensioner assembly I bought a continental branded version at Canadian tire (was the cheapest good quality one I could find at the time) and I noticed on the box it said made in Canada so I was quite happy
when I removed the original tensioner assembly it had the exact same markings and also said made in Canada so then I was super happy!

Your’s seems to use an inner belt pulley where as 49345 Continental tensioner uses an outer belt pulley not ribbed but smoothsorry its been a few years so I dont have the box but I did find this on Amazon for a 2006 dodge ram hemi says made in Canada looks to be the same thing

must be the difference between the 06-08 set up and 09+ drive belt systemYour’s seems to use an inner belt pulley where as 49345 Continental tensioner uses an outer belt pulley not ribbed but smooth

When I ordered my tensioner **345 the idler pulley **024 came in the box with, from Rock Auto
**24 is only $12 so why not replace pulley vs bearing in metal pulley? The pulleys that are plastic (nylon filled) have a factory sealed lip on one side and the bearing sits inside a formed ridge of about 1 or 2mm
This does not look as a ( pressed ) reusable but single use pulley but , the metal pulleys look to be reusable I’ll be able to justify my comparison when I can inspect a metal idler pulley this week.
I’m not a advocate of disposable parts, with that being said I don’t think removing seals to re-grease bearings for critical belt driven components is prudent, but many people swear to it’s practically so personally it’s just a matter of preference.**24 is only $12 so why not replace pulley vs bearing in metal pulley?
I posted both #'s because tensioner could be good but not pulley/bearing

I’d rather replace a shielded bearing with an upgrade than go with an economical solution… not exactly disposable because I’m reusing the pulley and in this instance I will soon know if a metal pulley is an upgrade from the current nylon plastic.
