Which Throttle Body

I am thinking that within the next 3-6 weeks I am going to be buying a catch can and throttle body. Which throttle body should I be looking at? Brand? Etc? I have S&B CAI, Mufflex 14", Diablo trinity w/ 93 Tune.

I have a Moe's 85mm TB. Got my BT catch can there as well. Happy with both, especially the catch can bc I get a lot of crap out of it every time I check it.

I checked out Moe's and there are a couple different ones. I don't really know the difference, oter than price, between the Moe's and the BBK and the other ones out there.

I think the BBKs have a good rep as well as the Moe's. They say the 85mm is good for most mods and the 87mm is good if u want to run headers. I went 85mm bc I prob won't ever run headers. I went with Moe's bc Matts customer service is top notch (I had already gotten some stuff from him before). The other vendors on here are good too so I read.

I have moes 87 mm. I love what it did for my truck. As you know, moes has great products. The only thing I wish moes would do with the TB is to polish the port. Matt said the dyno between polished and rough TB was only .8 hp. Not a gain justifying the added expense.

Moe's sells an 85mm C&C ported OEM throttle body if you never plan on headers, or an 87mm ported throttle body if you will be pushing more air.
87mm is the only one he recommends for the 2013, but you have a 2010, so 85 or 87mm will work.

For background, the factory TB is 80mm so you get a 6 1/4% or 8 3/4 % increase in diameter at WOT respectively.

Ok, well eventually I'd like to run headers but I haven't even begun to research that yet. The little I have heard was that if I do run them, I'd have to basically re-do my exhaust to compensate for the difference in length, size, etc. Since I just got the 14" magnaflow, the exhaust is not something I will be tackling right now. I guess my best bet would be to go with 85mm and then once headers are a factor, sell the 85mm and buy the 87.

If you don't mind me asking, what exactly did it do for your truck?

The 87mm did 2 things for my truck: 1) it made an improvement in initial throttle response. didn't eliminate the "lag" but made a noticeable difference. 2) pulls harder after 2000rpm and 70mph-90mph @ 4000rpm, acceleration is really fun. I'm at sea level and never higher than 40ft. I'm not sure if that has anything to do with it but with the volant CIA and tune, it's coming together for me. TC, ARH long tubes, and hopefully moes will start offering a valve body for my truck are in the near future.

I wish someone would make a 83mm. 84mm is the only straight TB I can find. That's what our engines need. The heads are capable of supporting 525 hp naturally aspirated , the 84mm will slow velocity. 270cfm intake, 160cfm exhaust, something like that according to allpar.com. But simple porting works really well with these heads. Throw in a cam, that will help. Decided to get a service manual from mopar tech authority, $167.00. Get the details from that.

No on the spacer...they are restrictor plates...nothing more...except maybe paper weights.

I can't see why you would run an 87mm if you weren't planning on getting headers. 85 should suffice I would think...but I could be wrong. I had a Fastman TB in my 2011.

Like most people who start with "just an intake and exhaust" you will end up with headers eventually.....trust me

Get the best, cheapest 87mm you can. If the 87mm is designed to run with a stock truck then why not pony up the extra $50 over the 85, and never worry if you want to add a set of headers??
I can't speak to the quality of Moe's, but the Bully's piece was brutally rough on the inside after they bored it out. (That was the only reason I polished mine. That's clearly not an issue for anyone else here because I have not heard of anyone else caring enough to do something about it.)

How did you come up with these numbers Casper.
The majority of ported throttle bodies for these trucks,still use the stock throttle blade,and neck down to the original diameter at the blade.
So curious where you got your info and numbers from

I thought I read that after testing, Moe's found the 85mm presented no benefits on the 13+'s so they only offer an 87mm.
