Just curious had bad luck with my first motor, looking for some high mileage ones. Had a new motor put in mine at 16,500. I have a 2017 4x4

Well your partly at the wrong forum if your looking for high mileage EcoDiesels. There is a forum dedicated to primarily the EcoD and there is easily 10+ I can think of off the top of my head that are well above the 100K mark.
Probably the high mileage king with the EcoD is on this forum also. VernDiesel put 371K miles on his first engine before the a head gasket started leaking. His second motor is well over 200K miles. He delivers TTs all over the country, so yes it gets a good workout.

What went wrong, rocker arm failure?

not sure was bottom end problem, sounded like a bearing spun, definitely had a knock in the bottom end but they did't take the motor apart

Oh ok, that's real bad. I had heard of some dealers just replacing the heads with rocker arm failure but that would have me paranoid about the bearings. Glad they took care of you. I wanted to get the EcoD but the return on investment didn't make sense with my short commute.

I understand that, I went with it because I drive alot, I work out of my truck and figured it would be a good long term option. Hoping this new motor goes for 300K

I went off the top of my head, but there is a thread going on Ram1500Diesel forum that has 20 if I counted them correctly that are over the 100K mark, not including Vern. There have been other +100K trucks reported over the years including a bunch that were used a oversized load semi escorts.
There are some '15-'16 trucks in the 60K-80K mile range but those are probably higher than average mileage.

Is 100000 miles still considered high mileage ?

Considering the EcoDiesel only been around for about 5 years. That's a bunch of miles in a short span of time. There bunch more trucks over 60K that are newer than '14
If you can go +100K with little to no repairs on any vehicle you doing good. Get that up to 200K the field narrows especially if the truck is under 10 years old.

All modern vehicles should hit 100000 miles without repairs. An engine lasting 200000 miles has become the norm.

You are a lot more likely to get to that high mileage goal if the truck has had the EGR deleted at the very least.

That's what I am thinking. When the warranty goes out I'm going to do that. They already had to replace the motor, don't want to lose the warranty. It was a 22k repair

I traded my 2014 Ecodiesel at 108km or about 67miles. The warranty had expired and so traded for a Hemi. Really disappointing as I had 500km on my gen 1 Cummins. I loved the Ecodiesel.

this truck has been depressing ever since owning it, i suggest to not join any forums or bookface groups,

its either

whats your mpg
or
my motor blew up
or
dealer denies warranty for some weird reason
or
buy gde ecu before your truck blows up
or
egr failed - coolant in block
or
cranks and doesnt start, truck lost the tone ring that tells where the crankshaft position is

its seriously 70-80% threads are awkward complaints/symptoms/dealer deny coverage/dealer replacing random parts/3rd-4th engines etc

life is alot easier not having to worry about it, and you just drive it

I asked this in the ecodiesel forum also but I thought I would put it here also.
The Jeep Grand Cherokee has the same engine, I believe. There are not nearly as many blown, damaged engines in the JGC. We hear stories of dealers saying stay away from the ram ecodiesel, we have a dozen in the back waiting for engines, etc. Not so with the JGC.
Can anyone explain the difference. Seems to be a significantly different experience, not a statistical anomaly.
Just asking.
