94 1500 5.2 auto. 310,000. My brother got it at about 285k and it was clapped out to say the least. The steering was scary so we threw a pitman arm on it to make it driveable since it was just a trash truck at the time. Fast forward a couple of years and he buys a new 14 2500 4x4 cummins crew cab. I bought the old truck from him for $500 with big ideas to make it a hot rod one day. Only thing mechanically I can verify is the engine has been replaced with a junkyard unit that was once a reman. No clue on mileage. My repairs are as follows...

Complete front end
-upper and lower control arms
-inner and outer tie rods + sleeves
-idler arm
-another pitman arm
-3 gearboxes until I found a tight one
-steering stabilizer
-shocks
Rock Solid steering shaft/column bushing
Power steering pump and all hoses
a/c compressor
Alternator
Belt tensioner
Idler pulley
Water pump
Belt(obviously)
New tires-likely it's first new set in at least a decade lol
front pads/rotors
wheel bearings
rear shoes w/ gm 1 ton wheel cylinders
Reman 46RH
Rebuilt rear w/ 4.10 gears
Hughes plenum plate
complete ignition tune up -plugs, wires, coil
2/4 drop - coil springs, shackles and hangers, shocks again
roll pan to replace rusted rear bumper

currently in progress---
Modified kegger intake w/ volume reduction plates
new valve stem seals
plugs
new distributor
new fuel pump
egr delete

current mods

2/4 drop
ebay CAI w/ K&N filter
Pacesetter long tubes and Y-pipe w/ flowmaster 40 dumped before the axle
Basic Pioneer single DIN radio
Alpine Type S components x4 w/ compact Clarion 4-channel amp

Wow. And I thought I had done a lot of work to mine. Do you notice a better power band with your kegger plate? I've already cut one just haven't put it on yet.

It's still apart at the moment. It's supposed to give better throttle response down low which I definitely need after doing the long tubes.

Yeah it's been alot of work so far but the biggest thing is it's completely rust free and the body and frame are solid as a rock. I bought it because it's a solid platform for a future build. 2wd, standard cab, short bed, pre obd

Post how many miles are on your truck and witch motor you have! Also list what major components have been rebuilt or replaced.

Thought it would be fun to see who's got the most miles.

my 2001 1500 318 has 430,000 on it. runs like new. just replaced tranny. have been multiple batteries, 5 water pumps and one new alternator

Wow 430,000 miles that must be a record on these trucks for a gas engine. Especially the way people trade and sell these days.

Here I thought my truck had a lot of miles but after reading some of these posts I've got some catching up to do. I gave it to my son after I bought a 2017 CTD.
It's a '97 1500 4x4 with the 5.9 gas engine. It now has 290,000+ miles. The truck has been VERY reliable. The engine has NEVER been opened up it is 100% original as is the trans. Regular maintenance on both engine and trans using plain old Fram filters and dino oil, no need to waste $$ on synthetic.
It's still running very well.

Worn out parts replaced-
Alternator # 3 in 19 years
I also got 7 1/2 years out of my last Optima battery.
Both front hub and bearing assembly's.
One rear axle and bearing for both sides.
Radiator about 17 years ago.
1 water pump about 13 years ago.
Had 4.10 gears and Auburn Gear locker installed about 10 years ago.

Thanks, It's a 3 inch Pro Comp lift and 285/75/16 BFG mudders. The rear has Helwig helper springs for towing my TT so it sits about 2 inches higher than with just the lift kit.

Hey this is off topic but I've got a grinding noise while turning and on the gas at the same time. It's not any u joints or wheel bearings because I just did em all. I also had both did covers off bout a 1,000 miles ago and didn't see anything out of the ordinary. If any of y'all know what it is let me know cause it's slowly getting worse.

I'm likewise currently pursuing a repetitive clacking/grinding noise that is coming from the rear end. I inspected the rear diff insides as well as I could, saw no damage, re-fllled it with good gear oil and the additive but the noise continued.
Now I've put it up on blocks and ran it with the wheels off and as far as I can tell, with the stethoscope, the noise is worst right on the right rear brake backing plate. It seems to occur in time with the wheel rotation but I do not find any shiny spot where the drum might be rubbing on the plate. The axle feels right, it doesn't move at the outside in any direction to an appreciable amount when I shake it and the brakes look worn but OK.

So I'm having the drums turned now and have ordered new shoes and spring kits. It's about time for that anyway and then we'll see if that fixes the problem. If not, I imagine it'll be time to pull the axle seal and bearing, but I don't know if a bearing would do a "clank" in time with the wheel RPM? I would expect a howl or whine from a bearing...? It usually happens when accelerating from a stop while turning to the right, but not every time. I only notice it at low speeds. Any advice gratefully accepted, thanks.

Okay, I'll jump in on this one. I have a 1996 Dodge Ram 2500 4x4. It has 285000miles and I have always felt that the engine was about 1/2 done...maybe. Maybe only 33%. Anyway, as things wear out or stop working I replace them if it is a down gripe. If I can get around to it , like my cracked dash, busted bezel or crappy interior, I am working on it when I suddenly feel an outpouring of love towards my truck. This crescendo of love usually happens when I look at the price of a 1K ft. lbs of torque HD truck. Suddenly I want to put more money into my 21year old truck. I bought an A.R.E. 'V' series truck topper for it today. I put a Hammer Head front bumper on it last year, and rebuilt everything in the front end right down to the knuckles, nice and tight. I have a manual 5sp with a Gear Vendors OD that never wants to work properly (i'll get to it). Even got some new skins...I like my trucIMG_7046.JPG IMG_7045.JPG IMG_5803.JPG IMG_5821.JPG IMG_5305.JPG IMG_7046.JPG IMG_7045.JPG IMG_5803.JPG IMG_5821.JPG IMG_5305.JPG IMG_7046.JPG IMG_7045.JPG k.......
