Why are there so few 6’4 long beds out there?

I was looking at a 6.4 quad cab but the wife said not much room in back seats, then just happened to find a 2016 crew with 6.4, we both liked the 6 or so inches extra room in the back seat and it is now in our garage. a great truck, drives nice and quiet inside, only negative is a bit on the long side but did not want the short bed as we still need a truck for some uses.

Well maybe that is a good thing for us because it makes the resale value higher when selling the truck. makes it rare find I guess ,but I love my 6.4 bed fits most everything even a 6 foot ladder laying flat down in the bed, makes going on the highway better .:banana-mario:

How would it up the resale when there’s already not that much of a demand for the longer beds in the first place? Only a small portion of consumers wants that longer bed. Most people want the shorter bed because ether don’t need it and they’d rather have their truck fit in an average sized garage.

I was quoting someone else who actually seemed to care about resale.

That wasn’t you..... [emoji41]

Most pickups don't get garaged and second if their are few 6.4 bed trucks out their its rare when selling it sounds like your hung up on something or maybe you don't like 6.4 beds. Most dealers don't order the 6.4 bed because of the younger drivers who just want to rip it up with the 5.7 Hemi but as for a working and family truck 6.4 bed wins BIGLY

It may be rare when selling it because they are rare but I don’t think you’re getting the point that just because of its rarity, it’s not going to just automatically make it any more valuable than a shortbed truck unless the right person comes along that wants a truck that has that long of a bed.

But I ask almost any dealer; They don’t order a whole lot of a longer bed half-tons because they know what the majority of their customers want, and most people want a short bed.

What do you think the most likely reason is why you can’t find a new body style 2019 ram 1500 right now that has the longer bed?? Of course, I don’t know what the exact reason for that is but I’ll tell you one thing,I’ll bet you dollars to pesos it probably has to do with FCA testing the waters with this new body-style.

But anyway, I’m not writing all this out of dislike for the longer bed. I have nothing against the longer bed. Does my truck have a longer bed? No, because I wanted the shorter one. It’s obvious you like the longer bed by the fact that you’re thinking that anybody who says anything like I do about it that they just don’t like it. Matter of fact, I even posted several posts ago about how in a lot of ways, the longer bed does look better.

well my truck has a different ride then a 5 foot bed. The wheel base is 149 inches makes for a much much smoother ride and I can put a lot more stuff in the bed . so really don't care what you think. Also did you ever think that 6.4 bed trucks have to be ordered from the dealer ,very rare to find one sitting on the lot. Most guys don't want to wait for delivery of the truck which could be like two and a half months for it. So guess what they grab the 5 foot bed truck. That is the main reason their are so few 6.4 bed trucks on the road.P>S they also cost more.

I doubt it’s “much much” more as you say but I guess I’ll just have to take your word for it since I’ve yet to ride in one but I highly doubt 9 inches is gonna make a difference between night and day at least when you’re talking trucks.

But there you go again blabbering about being able to put more in your bed. If that suits you, then fine but not every halfton owner frets over 4 inches less than an old school short bed.

so really don't care what you think.

Then don’t. No ones asking you to. You’re the one gettin’ all worked up because you think them damn longer beds are the absolute bees knees.

They don’t all have to be special ordered. I told you, most dealerships don’t carry the things because there just isn’t that much call for them regardless of how special you keep acting like they are.

And where do you get off saying most guys don’t wanna wait the month or two to wait on a longer bedded truck?? Are you tapped into some network that monitors truck orders?? If they absolutely NEEDED that bed and there wasn’t any around, I guarantee ya they’d wait the time to order one. But that’s only if they want new so ya can’t sit there and tell me that “most guys” settle for the shorter bed.

And no, that’s NOT the reason there are so few. If there was more demand for them, dealerships would buy more of them.

But if you think $250 bucks is enough to argue over in what’s more valuable between the two then I guess I just hafta rest my case and digress. 5bb3d47d3f1426937b57c2c2609c6a6b.jpg4638c4f8395f1c0c764a4ab31922121a.jpg

so whats your point you ******** **** this is a old post stop trolling

I’ve made my point long time ago, you ignorant mongoloid **********. If that person a couple of posts ago hadn’t of revived this thread- just to so happen be someone else opposite of what you’ve been blathering, might I add... I probably would’ve just continued on not even knowing or caring that you responded almost two weeks ago with anymore of your repugnant ********. That’s not trolling. Your above quote is trolling if all you can resort to is insults because you have no more argument. Ya never did.

I’ve rebutted everything you’ve blubbered so all I can say is I’m done and have a nice day.

You must have a small garage I have a 6,4 crew and it fits in mine

Not everybody has garages that big...lol. So your one that has a garage deep enough to fit that long of a truck. Does this dude you're quoting no good.
