I bought one for towing a travel trailer. I possibly could have gone with a 1500. But, I will be full timing with a RV and didn't want to possibly press the limits of 1500.

We are roofers and make 1500s work. I see a lot of 2500-3500 rams in the dump ground. It's basically like this as I was coming out in my Chevy Kodiak. Ram, Ram, Ram, Ford, Ram, Chevy, Ram, Ram. A lot are hemi rams. Some are Cummins. I used to see the p stroke as the main truck of choice, now it's the ram.

Sleddecks and trailers in the winter. Boat and travel trailer in the summer.
I should have forked over the extra and got a 6.4 Hemi cuz my 5.7 is a little heavy on the fuel economy side when hauling/towing.

I do have the old 12v for the guys trips but the wife refuses to do family trips in it. Extrnded cabs are way too small for 3 munchkins.

Actually I should have voted "other" (voted don't need the capability). The only real reason at this point in time was so I could get a Cummins TD engine. Ideally this truck will last as long as I do so I don't have to deal with a car dealer again in my lifetime. However, not knowing where life will lead, its nice to have the capability for towing or carrying about anything I want to.

Yep, pretty much because I knew that I was going to get a TT so I didn't want to be limited by getting a 1/2.

Wanted more payload and easier towing. Huge difference going from 1/2 ton to 3/4 ton RAM. I also wanted to have a bigger truck in general.

Originally bought 2500 c.c with 6.4 because I planned to get a 24' enclosed car hauler rest of time it would be family truckster.

Ended up getting 33' box length Toy Hauler.

Other- A 4x4 truck should have a live axle in the front and not glorified car suspension.

Edit: aka I hate IFS with a passion.

They are IMHO a dream to drive through mountains which I do alot. The exhaust brake and the power of the Cummins is second to none..

Plus, the easy of suspension upgrades and availability.
Plus, just a taller truck.

I wanted more than my Ecoboost F-150 could offer and I didn't want a Power Stroke diesel. The Cummins is the only reason I chose a Ram. I like the styling, but to be honest it was the Cummins that sold the truck. I live in the desert so I will get plenty of off-road time, and now i DON'T have to limit myself to what I can haul so now it's just a matter of what I can afford

I loved the 1500 but I also loved the creature comforts that really weigh a 1500 down. I do more hauling than towing but I still do tow our TT. My hobby is stone work and yard landscaping and I was pushing the 1500 well beyond design limitations and with my TT in tow plus family I was definitely going to burn something up so I got the 2500.

I voted other,

I use the payload capacity more often than I tow close to capacity. most of the things I tow COULD be towed with a 1/2 ton... not to comfortably tough. I plan on hauling a verity of equipment like.. bob cat, backhoe, excavator ( personal use, not work related) with my truck often enough to make me not want a 1/2 ton any more. have done it 3 time this year and am glad I had the truck I do.

I also fall into the category of not "needing" a 3/4. I went with a 3/4 ton because throughout my life there were enough times that I have said the words "I wish I had a 3/4 ton right now" to justify the purchase. I also do some landscaping on the side and I have overloaded a half ton Chevy and Dakota more than I should have. Me and a buddy needed to haul a bob cat and other stuff for a job and we had to borrower his dads Cummins cuz I was afraid the Chevy wasn't up for it. I said never again. Wanted a diesel but with my budget I could afford a new 6.4 or a used Cummins and decided to go with new.
