I guess this is the area to ask this question: what is the best window cleaner that will NOT leave streaks? I've tried store bought stuff and i've mixed a drop of dawn with water and vinegar, which seems to work best. I tried wiping it dry with both terry cloths and lint free paper cloths. Still get those damn streaks/haze. I then tried just water with vinegar.
I don't do them in the sun or when the glass is hot. All the windows are tinted except for the windshield..which is where i get streaks. I just spent two hours trying things and just when i thought they looked great, i pull it outside and....ARGH!!
So, since this is part of detailing, any suggestions?
Well somebody else with windshield issues........ I have a 2019 1500 Classic that I bought new in June of 2020. It now has about 46,000 kms (29,000 miles) and since new, the windshield is impossible to keep clean inside, and always has streaks on the outside after cleaning. Just for information, this is my 71st vehicle since I got my license in 1979, so it isn't my first time cleaning windows. My last few vehicles were new - 2008, 2011, 2014, and 2016 F150's and I have always been into detailing vehicles .I worked at a shop for a few years plus, always detailed used vehicles evenings and weekends for the dealers I worked for when my Parts Department job was done for the day. I ran my own detailing shop for 8 years, and have done everything from washing to complete wet sand and buff to paint jobs. Since 1980 or so I have been, and still am, a big fan of RainX glass treatment and won't drive anything without RainX. Also since mid 80's I have used ProForm glass cleaner in the green areosol....Never had issues until this 19 Classic. The inside of the windshield seems clean when first done, as does the outside when cleaned with glass cleaner, but always seems to be a few streaks inside and out, even after numerous rounds. Inside of the windshield the next day there starts a "haze" of some sort that you can leave a mark in with your finger if you rub it across it. Yes I am that **** about clean windows if I see a spot I check to see inside or out. I have tried probably 50 different types & brands of glass cleaner from all the top brands...even bought cleaner form 3 local auto glass shops but same thing...the film starts again. Yes unfortunately I smoke in my truck but only if the windows are all down but I did that in every vehicle I ever owned and never had issues. I change the cab filter every oil change, or every 2nd one at the most.
Another peeve with this truck is with the outside temperature change. I live in New Brunswick Canada and we have temps from 40C (107F) summer to -40 C or F winter and the slightest drop in ambient temp or rain and if the truck sits for more than 5 or 6 hours the windshield fogs up completely and is 5-10 minutes on full defrost before you can drive it. OK in the winter time but idiotic in spring, summer, or fall. Sorry for the long rant
