Remove trim and install 1/2inch wide 3M double sided tape underneath. Re-install and carefully use heatgun to reshape moulding to tape.

Hi everyone! First time posting here. Thanks in advance for any advice.

As we all know, the rubber lower window trim on our trucks likes to warp over time, especially when exposed to sunlight. I was wondering if a redesigned part was ever made (maybe on the Ram 1500 Classics?) that replaced the material with which the part was made to fix this issue? If so, can someone please send me some part numbers?

I'm trying to keep the trim black if they did in fact improve the piece, but I'm open to buying the chrome ones if it permanently fixes the ugly warping issue.

For everyone's SA: My truck is a 2014 with what I assume to be all original parts as far as the window trim goes, so if the part redesign happened after that year-model was released, I would likely not have that improved part installed. Thanks again!

I have a 2019 Ram Classic purchased in 2020, about 11k miles currently on the vehicle. Both sides of my truck have this same issue. I also took a look around my work parking lot and found that every single RAM with the classic body style I found had this same issue. Pretty sad and disheartening to see such a clear and chronic quality issue.

Guys! I installed them as well! (The chrome pieces.) it honestly sucked shelling out the 200-something$ for the genuine MOPAR part (nothing fits like OEM, as I’ve found out the hard way with multiple MODs on my truck across 5 years), but it was 100% worth it, honestly. It’s really nice to not worry about the rubber fading again like I know it would. I will post some before and after pictures now below, but I’ll follow up this post soon with some details about what was easy/hard, etc.

Overall though, I wanted to kill all the chrome on my truck, but I’m honestly ok with these news additions! Sorry it took me so long to reply.

Looks good. I've always felt a little chrome like these can go a long way. It kinda looks cool with only horizontal chrome accents on your truck, not too busy.

I am pretty sure that my brand new (March 2021) 2021 Classic already has a little warping on these trim parts. I may also look into getting the metal trim parts to replace eventually.

Perfect, thank you.

I may bite the bullet and get these and paint them black, but $200 for that little mod isn’t in the cards right now.
GIJoe2010,
Based on the feel of the parts, they are metal, not a chromed plastic (I think they may be stainless steel?)

Anyway, if you paint them black, it should work out for you. I would love to do that myself, but the money’s not there, and the little bits of chrome here and there have grown on me a little bit with the 100% blacked-out look getting a bit exhausted, IMO.

Is the kit part number a RAM part number, or is it a vender part number (which has the four RAM parts)?

Thank you.
