I'm such a *******! Wasn't paying attention, saw my windshield low fluid light on yesterday. Quickly serviced it up to full (or so I thought). Got in my truck this morning and the light came on again. Checked the reservoir... dry.

Mother @#$% I put the wiper fluid in the coolant overflow bottle. I'll check the fluid tonight, drain the overflow bottle, and possibly flush if it got into the radiator.

At least I didn't accidently pour it in the blinker fluid reservoir huh? :********:

Dur, du-duuur! :roflsquared:

So after reading a couple things online, turns out windshield wiper fluid in your coolant isn't that bad. It's not corrosive, and when your radiator get hot driving, it burns off most of the additives, resulting in basically just water left.

Also, if you only fill your overflow bottle and not the radiator, you don't have much to worry about. As your radiator will only pull a small amount of overflow fluid, so even if you have wiperfluid in your overflow bottle... not much at all is going to enter your radiator.

But for peace of mind I cleaned out my radiator overflow bottle very easily.

How to flush the overflow bottle in 1 minute.

Remove the overflow bottle cap, the radiator cap (ONCE COOLED! BE WARNED, IF IT'S STILL HOT, IT WILL BLOW UP ALL OVER YOU AND CAUSE 2ND DEGREE BURNS!!!) and remove the radiator cap drain/transfer tube that leads to your overflow bottle.

Drop the drain/transfer line into the engine bay, so it points down at the ground.

Remove the plasic white placeholder from the overflow bottle tank and stick a garden hose down into the neck securely.

Then just turn on the hose and let it run for about 30 - 45 seconds until the fluid drained from the transfer tube is clear water.

Replace the overflow bottle plastic placeholder, the caps and the drain tube, the simply fill the coolant overflow bottle back full, and your done-sky!

Bam! :********: Lazy-mans overflow bottle flush!

So, does the over flow reservoir have a drain plug of any kind?

Another way is to use an air compressor and blow out the fluid. You can blow it right into another bottle. Less mess

Could be WAY worse!
My cousin filled the washer fluid reservoir on his truck with
concentrated power washer soap!
Jugs were on the shelf next to each other and dang near the same color.
First time it rained he was foaming bubbles all over the highway and could barely see!
Windshield sure was clean though...
