Hey yall so last year i installed a LED strip withDRL and turn signal feature.and connected it to my drl wire on headlights so it turns on as soon as the truck starts then turn signal part to the turn signal wires..
Now my question here is Is there a way to wire the DRL wire from the led strip to a switch in the truck and then to the drl wire at head light?
What i want is so im fine with the drl strip on all the time when trucks running but if im at a cruise in the middle of the city it would be nice i could turn the switch off in the truck and it would turn that led strip drl off.
Then as long as the switch is in the on position in the truck the led strip will work as normal.
Hopefully you understand what im getting at basically i want a way to turn the DRL light strip off if needed the odd time.

It should be possible to turn the DRL Enable switch in the vehicle settings. I turned the option on when adding my DRLs to my '15 truck. It's in the settings menu in the radio. I did this with AlfaOBD and followed the settings in the "Known Working List" in the first post of the AlfaOBD thread.

Oh i mean an actual switch as i have a 12 gang touch screen panel. Was hoping to have a dedicated button that would be able to power it off when needed but just the led strip as i do have drl lights and grill lights on the same circuit so i only want the strip to have the power off ability.

I understand what you're looking for and why you want it.

You do know that you will require a rewire and are causing a complicated system to become more complex with multiple additional potential points of failure, while using the Uconnect option is far simpler and already present. Just saying...

I've added the option below with AlfaOBD that most likely already exists on your truck unless it was made for the Canadastan market like mine.

Sounds like a simple switch anywhere in the led strip will do what you want

Only issue is, it would require you to run a wire from the strip into the cab and back

Or, use a relay but that's even more wiring

I have a candian truck and dont have that option. I will add this option once i find the write up.
Now i see this being the easy way but when i turn this option Off then (ALL) my DRl light would go off. I have hood lights and grill lights on the drl side and i wanted those to remain all the time and just want the option for the led strip to be turned off if needed.

Thats what i was hoping some kind of relay to do this but just not sure the way to do it.
I have switches in the truck already not being used and i have a relay box under the hood. i have a free 4 pin relay i could use there so if there was a way to just wire to the relay that would be awesome.

So a 4 pin relay is a normally closed circuit

Right now you have a hot from the DRL running to the LED bar

This is where you place the relay

The hot from the DRL goes to post 30, the other side of that wire, which goes to the LED bar goes on post 87

Ground put post 85

Take on of those unused switches and run a it to post 86

IF I got this right, you will need power to both post 30 and 86, meaning that both the DRLs and the switch need to be on to run the LEDs
Kill either one and the LEDs go off

For some unknown reason, I was never able to get this option to populate on my 8.4, although I was able to turn the actual DRL's on through AlfaOBD. I've since switched to an aftermarket head unit, so it doesn't really matter to me anymore. If I get tired of the DRL's, I'll just use Alfa to turn them off.

Cust.Set.Menu 1-Daytime running lights CSM Present.
This adds the DRL option into the Uconnect/Lights & Locks settings screen.

CBC Features-DRL Configuration.
My truck is made for the Canadastan market and always has daytime running lights on unless you switch to Optional DRL.
