1985 Dodge D150 Ram(SE royal prospector) 318ci, nothing power, 60A alternator, no radio yet, simply simple
Currently there are 4 ATO/ATC inline fuses just to allow the truck to run. The 40A inline gets too HOT initially when the truck is started(connected to the alternator output 10awg wire).
Eventually, the 4 circuit breakers will replace what fusible links were attached to the infamous "Duck Foot". 20A, 25A, 30A, 40A circuit breakers, There is pink with 2 black stripes(spot 13 in bulkhead connector) should be ignition feed. Next, is black wire(spot 37 in bulkhead connector) battery feed. Lastly, Dark blue wire(bulkhead connector spot 4)ignition switch feed.
The Haynes manual diagram shows to ammeter positive and negative wire connecting to the R6 Black Shunt.
Questions:
1. Suggestions on which wire should be on which circuit breaker, they are 12-14 awg wires?
2. Can the ammeter wires connect parallel on a 6 gauge wiring circuit before the alternator output? The ammeter currently works(moves) a little.
3. Are the 1985 Dodge D150 Rams ammeter circuits as fire prone as the earlier mopars?
Thanks for being a great resource for these great old trucks.
Recent Update:
Found the shunt wire for the ammeter
its approx. 10 awg and black maybe welded spliced between the red side(starting) and black side(charging). Planning on leaving the shunt wire wire and fixing and adding with it.
