So I fired up my RAM and went to back out as usual, except when I stepped on the gas it acted like it was in neutral! I looked down and noticed the light above reverse was blinking. I could go back into park and go into drive, but reverse wouldn't engage. After a couple more attempts it finally flashed the CEL. I turned off the engine for a few minutes and turned it back on and it finally went I to reverse. CEL was still on, pulled the code and got a P1D92. It drove and shifted just fine. Obviously have to wait until Monday to take it in...but any ideas in the mean time??

P1D92-00-INCORRECT GEAR RATIO - CLUTCH 4 DEFECTIVE

That dtc basically means there’s an internal transmission failure. Valve body would be the first thing to try. If a new valve body doesn’t fix it then the transmission is going to have to come out.

personally I would clear it and see if it comes back.

All due respect Tach_tech I would recommend taking it in with the code and documenting this. Clearing it may kick this issue down the road and wind up costing turboguard a lot fixing a latent issue after all warranties expire. It's not normal to get these codes. If it's a valve body or just a loose connector somewhere the OP should get it fixed on FCAs dime.

I would only recommend clearing it and waiting to see if it comes back if he has no warranty. I should have made that more clear.

That being said if it’s only happened once and isn’t active when/if he takes it in. They’ll likely clear the code, road test it and see if it comes back. If it’s an intermittent issue it’s more likely a valve body issue.

So the code cleared itself today, but I'm still gonna take it in tomorrow for its first oil change + tire rotation, and I'll mention the issue.

Welp I decided just to let it go for the time being since the CEL went away and I would've had to drop it off overnight. Big mistake, it happened again today when I went to back out for lunch, and never fixed itself, even after disconnecting the battery. Currently having it towed to the dealership...hopefully it won't take long to fix, I really think it's something electronic and not with the actual transmission.
I was trying to be positive, but chalk me up as another FCA statistic I guess...

Thanks for the reply. I called the dealer and they said it was the valve body, but unfortunately the part was on backorder for 2 weeks...anyone else had a problem like this with only 5k miles on the transmission?

Sorry for the delay, @turboguard. I can get you connected with a specialist who can work alongside your dealer to try and get this in sooner. Feel free to shoot me a PM if it would be of interest.
