I don't know, I'm gonna wait and see what Duane says, maybe the y pipe is reversible...because all the ones on the site say the same in/out patterns

If not I'm sure there is something that will do it.

Yes, the Y Pipe is reversible, however I would suggest looking for a muffler with a single inlet, dual outlet. Aluminized pipe will last a very long time, usually 8-10 years.

Perfect. Is there a link you can send me so I can pay for the muffler, piping and y pipe? I wasn't sure where the piping and the muffler was on the site, so I couldn't put those in my "cart" lol

I'll have to check around and see if the xr-1 comes in a dual outlet..

If you are dead set on an XR1 it ony comes in a single in single out design. I would not do the Y pipe after it though. I know Borla has other mufflers that might work with what you want to do better than the XR1 would

Yeah I heard the xr-1 on another 4.7 engine and really liked it...I'm gonna have to do some research before I commit to another muffler..I'm looking for something that's quieter when idling, but let's you know it's there wher you give it some gas..

Find the model number for the borla setup that was on the daytonas. I had that catback for years when I first bought the truck til about a year or so ago and liked it a lot before I sold it and bought the xr1

It was only for hemi's

What's the reason behind people preferring a dual out muffler to getting a y pipe on a single out muffler?

It will still work with the 4.7 though. Pipe dia and lengths are the same regardless.

Because the exhaust is balanced in the muffler and split equally. Either way will work though. My advice....run two pipes with a crossover and dual race mufflers.....eliminate the Y coming off the cats completely.

I'm a little confused..how would you get two mufflers in there, going off of a single inlet?

The "run two pipes with a crossover" threw me off..

No, not off one. You eliminate the Y Pipe from behind the cats, take straight pipes off them instead with H pipe into dual single inlet mufflers, then you can have your dual rear exhaust.

Sounds like I will have to order more piping lol. And of course another muffler. I don't know if I want to touch that **** all the way up there LOL. Seems like a big PITA to go dual. I may just get the xr-1 and keep the single exhaust pipe, it doesn't seem like it's worth all the trouble, but it would be cool to have it...

Maybe I should do that, get the xr-1, keep the single dumped exhaust and instead of getting a second muffler, I'll get a raceland cutout. I hate making decisions about modding lol..You don't happen to sell cutouts by any chance do you? :D

It's actually really easy. You just cut the Y Pipe right before it meets, attach the straight pipes in, attach the crossover, attach the mufflers, then run a pipe from each muffler out the rear. I can draw you up a diagram if you wish. I will try to get the pipe and mufflers on the site this week. Got a lot of other stuff to add too..........so many parts, so little time.....:birgits_tiredcoffee
