My. .02 recheck back of radio , recheck the connector hooked to the radio harness .
Recheck fuses

Hope you get this worked out w/o the dealers involved

Thanks I appreciate it. I feel the issue is in that area too. Truck is already at the dealer for them to redo the flash. Hopefully they call before doing the $150 diagnostic.

I have a 2012 with the 7" RHR radio and nav... This kit should work correct?
And also, will the remote locking tailgate work?
Thanks!

Sorry buddy this kit is for the 13+ Ram's . There is a kit available for you though , get the P/N from your dealer , then Google it to find a better price from a reputable place and install yourself .

Lil update, typical of my luck the flash did not work. Now I go back in and troubleshoot. I'll recheck all connects and the inline fuse (I never checked that as I didn't know it existed). I have heard/read more than once about the directions being wrong for the connector that goes into the back of the radio. Is there a clear picture or schematic for that connection out there?

haha ya thanks. Post 10 is important, and I looked at that already but I guess I should have been more specific. I have all of that info and have seen all of those pictures. I guess I was just hoping to see something else that was that "tadah" moment. BTW I checked the inline fuse, nope not it. After thinking it through I still think it's in that connection at the back of the radio. I just picked the truck up from the dealer and was going to take a look but I'm at work and don't have the socket to remove the radio. I guess I'll have to wait until I get home.

I should note, I couldn't "depopulate" pin 31,32 and 33 so I cut the wires and spliced into them. I read before that those three wires are for the cargo camera if so equipped. Can I get a conformation on this?

That is correct Sir , they are for the cargo cam ( 3rd brake light ) it shows a great view of the bed and backup are . An overall better camera for backing up imo ; however, the BU Cam is better for backing up to a trailer hitch .

Do you have a 2500 Ram ?
If so retain those wires , the can be inserted in socket xzy ? Can't remember off hand , but you can also install the cargo cam . I plan on installing the cargo cam on my 1500 in the future .

I have a 1500 also. I'm at home and looking at connector at the back of the radio. By looking at the pictures supplied in the directions I have it done correctly. But...looking at the actual pictures posted I'm wrong. So that's good news to me, as long as I didn't screw anything else up by doing that. Nowy question is, what is the Grey wire, blue wire and light blue with purple tracer wire for at the opposite side (top to bottom if the plug is sitting as in the diagram) for? And more importantly wear can I get the little metal ends to go on the wires?

Installing OEM backup cam

This may help clear up some of your Qs

I wish I could remember exactly how I took apart the radio C1 connector , it was realy easy as I remember .. something like this. . pop off the red piece , push a white or black slider ( I think) then jently pull out the wires , careful not to pull other wires , I seem to remember once the connector was unlocked you could easily remove all the wires at once .
Hope this helps

I think the blue or blu/violet wire is for airbag deployment , not positive , but if your airbags are still intact then your probably good

1) I'm mostly certain that isn't the case.

2) I checked the fuses under the hood, didn't know about the inline one.

3) Mostly certain that isn't it either.

4) That would suck, but would be my luck.

So is it not possible that a reflash would "wake it up"?

One thing that made me scratch my head about the install was after pulling the wires through the firewall and inserting them into the supplied connector the blue wire (power?) stops at the connector. The supplied radio harness doesn't have a corresponding wire. Four go into the connector and only three come out, with nothing on the opposite side of the blue wire.
In this post you said you had 4 wires going in and three going out ?

Is this the connector your talking about ? This is the truck side of the radio harness ....
The 3 wires going towards the radio is a shield wire (bare) the other two are + video & - video . Power is derived from the +video .

This is my connector the truck side aka the connector you populated from the long body harness . I had 6 going in and 3 going towards the radio . It's important to know the three wires going towards the radio should be in line ( by color ) with the same color wires from the long harnes you populated , all the other wires do not matter for this kit . All the other wires that are not used for a radio display , they are for a mirror displayed back up cam , the extra wires are just terminated in that connector for convenience .
Hope this isn't too confusing .

Oh , for further clarification on the correct orientation and correct sockets in the radios C1 connector : remove the radios C1 connector then look at the radios pins , pin # 31 is clearly marked!

This is likely the issue, see post 26 of the camera thread for actual pictures.

I'm so irritated at myself for screwing this up :flame:. I did remove the red front "cover" but still couldn't get the wires to release. I didn't notice a slider but that would make much better sense. I'm irritated because the three wires I cut "depopulated" weren't supposed to be cut since I was in the wrong place. So I don't know what they were for but I'll reconnect them soon. The spot I should have used for the three wires for the camera was NOT populated so it would have been a breeze to finish this install properly. So...the three wires I thought were for the cargo camera were not for that, and the biggest issue is finding the metal pieces to go on the end of the wires, I had cut mine off to splice into the wrong three wires since I couldn't get them out. I'm just starting to look for them now. Just not sure what to call them. Do you know where I can order those?

Don't get too upset , you are not the first to do this , even the dealer techs screw this up as for where to obtain the female pins you need ... this is why I like it when people post their issues in the original backup cam thread lol smart guys monitoring that one .

You may look at the RA4 Conversion thread , there is references there on where to order these style connectors , pins , sockets and such .

Thanks, I appreciate your help. I never posted to the original thread because I read (or thought I read) on there someone saying they wished that thread was closed. I'll look in the RA4 threads first, then post in the backup camera thread if I can't find what I need.

I just saw your other replies, not sure how I missed them. Probably how I missed the 31,32,33 markings. I looked several times and even more so after I had questioned my positioning of the three wires and still never saw any markings on them. I did see some numbers on the back of that plug but nothing specific for each and ever tiny little "hole". Even in all of the pictures I have seen of this connector I haven't seen it numbered.

Found them. Part #:571-1376109-1. I just wanted to post it to make it easy for others to find the part number as I found them easier on another site. RA4 female pin.
