I am looking for Step Bars/Nerf Bars/Running Boards for my 2017 Ram 1500 crew cab that uses the body mount tower/bolts, not the rocker panel for the primary weight bearing. I weigh 300 lbs and need something ridiculously strong....rocker panel mounts in sheet metal will not suffice.

Us fat guys have to buy special chairs, special tickets for planes....and apparently special steps for our trucks....

I have seen lots of steps with weight "ratings" of 400+ pounds, but that seems to be a generic bar rating, not the fairly thin sheet metal thy are bolted to. Even dispersing the weight with good brackets, you are putting a great torsional load on the rocker panel metal.

I dont't want to go all the way to White Kuckle rock sliders, but something in between would be nice...

Good to know. Any input on aftermarket ones that are as strong? I just really don't want to end up on my a$$ from the sheet metal breaking. I have no plans to use these as rock sliders or anything...just to help with getting into the truck....

Bad knees + broken vertebrae are not very conducive to climbing into the truck, and I plan to level + bigger tires eventually.

Not sure what your budget is but I have AMP research powersteps, they are rated for 600 lbs each side

I have tyger 3 tube bars on my 17 2500 off road, I like them, stick out just a hair past the stock at tires, lower vehicles door hit it first. Im 235 and my son is 225, we both stood on these at the same time. I had seen these on Amazon, and for the price, they look amazing. You are saying you got no sag from the bars/rocker panels out of these with about 450 lbs on them? That is awesome!

I guess I will have to put them back in my Amazon wishlist....I had taken them out after reading some horror stories of bars ripping out the rocker panels....I am guessing likely due to a mixture of bad mounts/bad install/rust from salt....salt, I don't have to deal with in the PNW. I like that they stick out pretty far too, giving a$$hole car door protection....

Thank you. I will take a look at NFab as well, though I am not the biggest fan of hoop steps' aesthetics. Perhaps they have others....

Got the Tonneau on last night and steps on this morning.

Install on both CAN be done solo, but a second person makes both easier.

Disregard the dirty truck, got that washed after.

I really like the way Tyger attaches to the rocker panels AND the pre-existing pinch welds for super aggressive attachment strength. They dont flex but a tiny ammount under my 300 lbs. I put jack stand under the frame to confirm no suspension movement, and the driver flexes less than 1/16th of an inch and the passenger flexes approximately 1/4 of an inch. The variance is likely my fault in tightening things. These things are beefcake.4b21cb2a8ffceb0af7684797886ba9ca.jpgf89e75d03a4b95c4a4316191a6da6cc9.jpg031ae4e779bc280835257b42516c8278.jpg1091db899e8cbacc26487c51970f7b45.jpg289847507c0eaa78689218b8ec547f07.jpg

I know that putting any running boards on my Ram will make it more convenient to get into, but @TatertotScott is the height of the bars you bought good, or do you wish you bought something that extended lower? What is the actual distance from ground to the bars? TIA.
