I started to do my own oil changes. Does anyone have an opinion on adding ZMAX to the oil?

Nope. Additives are like medicine.. No point in popping tylenol for breakfast if you're not hurtin and rolaids won't cure pink eye.

Motor oil that meets the service grade for your engine already has additives in it to make it exactly what the engine needs and the only time a different substance is needed is when something has gone wrong and you need a cleaning or seal conditioning function that isn't part of normal oil

Lubegard biotech, no zmax.

lubegard kills hemi tick
To be fair...

I did buy a bottle of lubegard this week... because of that post. No tick with the redline, but I'm sort of curious if the lubegard will further quiet the motor. I change my oil every 1,800 to 2,000 miles, so I can't see it hurting to try it.

Lubeguard and Redline both at the same time is probably overkill. The only time I would use the Lubeguard is with an oil that's inferior to Redline to boost the Moly count. I used it in QSUD and it was quite effective. I bought a bunch of that Rotella Gas Truck 5W30 that was on clearance at Advance a few months ago and will definitely use it with that when the time comes.

I wouldn't. All I use is pens ultra platinum and biotech. I have used marvelous mystery oil to clean up engine in older vehicle with sticky lifters and seafoam to clean carbon on certain vehicles with carbon issues causing ping(like my old 02 z28 with the ls1). Never had a engine go bad on me in my life and I'm 54. I did have a tri power 389 1964 pontiac catalina that had 35k original miles when I bought it in mid 90s, but after buying it, found out the oil had turned like gel , due to sitting in car for 15-20+ years, so had to rebuild it.
