I'm tired of paying for all these tickets. I'm not a guy who speeds on purpose. It just happens with this hemi think... lol

What's a good make, brand, recommendations? I did a little google search, looks like they are legal in my state.

By the time the radar detects something, they will have gotten you already

This is true for lasers (i.e. cop sitting on the side of the road clocking everybody). In my area, cops do that but also a lot of them roll around with their radar on all the time and that's where the detector comes in handy.

Me personally, I have the Escort 8500 (blue FTW). It warns me all the time. I'm usually not going more than 5 over, but it's nice to know when they are around so I don't do anything stupid. If you want to spend a little more the 9500 is really nice too. You can also get the laser shifters (those scramble the laser signal so the officer can't get an accurate reading of your speed.) Those mount on the front and back so you have coverage from each, but that will set you back several hundred in addition to the detector. I think Escort sells the laser shifters too. I've looked into it but it's just not worth it to me.

EDIT: I'm not entire sure who sells the laser shifters and you would have to check the legality of it in your state...

I got a Cobra 9950 and if there is one up the road taking radar/laser, it warns me well ahead of time. I use to have a jammer where they could point at me all day long and it would not lock in. I miss that one. But it got outdated and would not pick up all the new kinds they have now.

Lol. I accidentally ran from them one time. Not on purpose. But that's a long story. Lots of shady stuff from their side.

Passport! Ive had 3 different ones from the time I was in Highschool. Never had a problem with them, worked amazingly, and haven't had a ticket since 2003... and I'm sure you guys have seen how I drive, 10-15 mph over everywhere.

I ran from them once in Des Moines, Iowa, I was in a 93 5.0 Mustang and it lasted 45 minutes. The problem is you can't beat the radio!! I was written over 47 citations and lost my license for 565 days!

By the time they pulled me over, there were over 30 police, varying from Sheriffs, City, Troopers and Off-duty ones.

It was a real drag!

How do you like them? I'm starting to think about adding the laser shifter. I wouldn't really think it necessary for in town (they mostly use radar anyway), but out on the open highway I can get impatient and find myself going well faster than I should...

i have a radar detector. Not to go 100mph but to avoid costly ridiculous tickets in the suburbs. 35 mph streets that everyone goes 47 on and guess what there's the radar gun picking up some moolah for the city. not going to pay 200 dollars for 10 miles over. i just laugh now because it sniffs them out from half a mile. nothing more fun than going speed limit after being alerted and then watch some Ahole tear around you and get a ticket.........

I love them.Bet they saved me 3 dozen times. At 90 in a 65 the PA State Police didn`t budge on the way to Carlisle...he he.With more and more laser out there it seems to pay off more and more to have it on he open road.

Thanks man! Yeah I'm thinking if it saves me a couple times it will have already paid for itself and I've already got the 8500 so it will work with it so why not get it before I need it. I think this just moved up in my mod list.
