I was faced with the same exact question when the 2013 developed a fatal issue with the cam. I decided to let it go back [7th day] and pick out another Ram instead. When that one gave me problems with the rear axle and then I find out it had a bent frame, I bought a new one. I didn't lose a ton...
I am not up to date on all the percentages. I just figured the problem was exactly what the other post had said, that turning off MDS can be a problem. Never said it was the only cause of failure, just that's what I am thinking caused mine....hope this clears it up.
I did this up until my second valve spring broke. Heard it was a good way to avoid the dreaded lifter/cam issue. Found out the hard way it wasn't good after all. I am at 139k right now and have been trouble free since the 56k mark. The drone is non-existent for the most part.
There is...
It took awhile, but I have power tools.... Seriously though, I broke the damn things off and used a scraper [metal] for the residual glue and plastic. Took me about four hours. The guy charged me $300 to bead blast then powdercoat in gloss black. That was a deal even back in 2019.

I like it until we get to...
ONLY if the warranty is from Chrysler Warranty Direct/factory. Third party warranties are generally a complete waste of money. My idea was get the 7 year unlimited mileage warranty for $2910 [which I did] so that my truck is covered until it's paid off. With an engine running around $8-12k and a...
Top one....if you had black wheels and lettering on the rest of the truck the black would look better. If you are attached to the Rebel grille, take the covers off the wheels and have them powqdercoated like I did on my 2016. Then change out the lettering and steps and you're3 all matched in...
Love mine and wouldn't have a Ram without them. This is either my last truck or I buy used again. This is my only new vehicle in 50 years of owning and driving cars and trucks. Had to do it once!
I thought the same until i compared $$$ & towing before buying the Rebel. The PW was 12k more and towed 2000 less. The extra cash weighed in a little higher than the towing capacity. I wish the Rebel 3/4 ton had been around then....I would have spent the extra cash.
And BTW, I am in the same lane as you are. Don't care for the 6 or 4 cylinder trucks at all. I will go back to the used market once all the v-8s are gone. At least until they are outlawed.
I would get the Rebel 2500 and call it good. 6.4 and 16k towing [minus payload of course]. You will miss out on the ridiculous start stop crap [yeah you can turn it off EVERY time you get in the truck, but I wouldn't buy one.
