Hey all. I have taken a shift in my mind of the end goal of my truck. At first it was a 6" lift on 35s that had numerous bolt ons to gain power loss back. But I have shifted to the "leveled 4wd" look on 33s.
I have bolted on ARH long tubes, K&N 63 CAI, MBRP cat back exhaust, electric fan, 180stat, Diablo Sport running 91 Octane Hemi Fever tune, Torque converter from Moes is coming and the down from 35's to 33s to make everything come together.
So I decided I want to feel my torque more than I want to lifted look. Part of the decision is that I honestly do not go off road much at all so it is function based as well.
I have spent numerous hrs pouring over tire specs, sending emails and texts annoying everyone I can trying to select the right tire for PERFORMANCE FISRT BUT MAINTAIN THE ABILITY TO HIT THE TRAIL OR SNOW.
I came up with the Nitto Terra Grappler G2 in 305/60/R18. I was very torn between the 305/65/R18 but it was 33.58" tall vs 32.40" tall of the 305/60. My current 35" MT's are actually 34.5" so the 305/65 at 33.58 would have netted me only 0.92" in reduction and I felt that was too small to go through the trouble. The 305/60 at 32.40" nets me 2.10" in reduction and in my opinion with the torque converter coming will make a big difference in power felt. Also a big difference between these two close sizes is that the one I selected is only a 6ply I think it was vs 10 ply on all the LT sizes. It has 50psi max vs 80psimax, load rating is like 2850 vs 3450. So it seems I have kinda found a niche tire for my niche wants in a tire.
The Terra Grappler came in first over the BFG KO2, Cooper Discover ST Maxx, Pro Comp A/T Sport and numerous others because it weighs only 52lbs vs the next lightest of any was 63lbs. 11lbs a tire I have bee told will be a BIG difference.
Anyway I honestly would prefer a different tire for looks as I am trying to maintain the leveled 4wd look as the terra grappler looks modularity aggressive but not like the other options.
Any wisdom shed on this would be great! Let's hear it weigh reduction and speed junkies
