Funny , after chatting with rhodeislandscott about shore launching and seeing his pics and hearing of the extent of his damage, what did I go and do?
Not wanting to deal with the crowds and inconvenient drive over to one of the airport runway sized numerous launch ramps in the area, we decided over the weekend to again beach launch my own little open bow boat for a quick little sunset cruise.
Problem was, I happened to be in an area where the underwater "shelf" and angle of decline into the water was extremely shallow. Plus, I listened to my buddy saying "C'mon Back, C'mon Back" while looking over my shoulder at the boat, waiting for it to float off the trailer, rather than occasionally looking around and soaking in exactly how far out I was getting.
Little did I know, until I noticed that I was damn near out to the "No Wake Zone" buoy line that my truck was in deep, up over the lower door seals, among other things.
End result was fine. Some damp carpet, a freshly washed out muffler and it pulled itself and the boat right out, with not so much as even a hint of wheel spin. I DO need to check my diff and transfer case fluids for contamination, just incase the "one way" breather vent caps failed, but other than that, it was all good. Though it did look very dramatic there for a minute.
