OK so i'm new to the forum thing. I'm wondering if it is worth buying the leveling kit or just crank the factory bars. I'm wanting to run 285/70/17 some sort of m/t thinking the fierce attitudes. any suggestions?

Thats the size Tires I run but with Ready-Lift Keys as I have Gator Mud-Flaps too.
Not sure without keys if it would rub? IMO a non-leveled 1500 has too much Rake and looks outta place anyways. Not a Fan of Cranking the stock Keys but thats just me.
I also ran 305/65/17's which are about same height but wider.

BTW: Welcome and stick around you'll enjoy your stay here.

Crank the factory bars. Those tres aren't much bigger then stock so you might be able to fit them stock
Cranking achieves lift the same way keys do, keys just allow you more room for adjustment

Welcome to the forum. I cranked the torsions on my 05 about half an inch from the max and even with an alignment, the tires wore unevenly, and it wasn't completely leveled. I would recommend the keys. Shouldn't have problems running 285's. I run the same on my 05 with the torsions dropped down.

Crank the stock keys and save the money. I wouldn't crank the torsion bars more than 2" and the stock keys will achieve that.
Aftermarket keys are just indexed a few degree's so you can crank the bars further, IMO they are a waste of money. The more you crank the bars the stiffer the ride gets, so level the truck out and call it a day...2" is plenty.
I rate aftermarket keys up there with T/B spacers and the turbonator, just slightly higher because they do allow you to crank the bars further.
Oh and it's not true that you will keep the factory ride quality with aftermarket keys to level your truck (leveled out).

Save your money and crank the keys, measure like crazy, and get an alignment

Keys and cranking increase the height te same exact way, by increasing the tension in the torsion bar.
The key just acts like a shim between the adjuster bolt And torsion bar
If you have uneven wear when you crank them you'll have it when you use keys as well

Had factory ones cranked on 05 Durango enough to fit 31's then aligned no problems.

welcome, i agree to just crank the stock keys. If you are looking to crank them because you think you need to so those tires will fit...............no need - those tires will fit at stock height. I personally would crank them to get rid of the huge factor rake
