ok so i have a question if anyone on here has ever worked on a reciprocating aircraft engine (say like a piper warrior)? ok so im going to a school to become a licensed A&P mechanic and we were talking about spark plugs when we were troubleshooting a engine yes i know airplanes and vehicles are different in many ways but they are similar as well so basically the engine i was working on has dual spark plugs (2 per cylinder) yes it is a horizontally apposed engine and i know the engines in my truck is a "v" type engine

but this is were my question comes in the bottom spark plugs are the ones that get fouled out quicker than the top ones on a horizontally opposed engine do to oil settling when the engine is off so what we do is take them out clean them (spark plug abrasive blaster) and switch the bottom plugs and the top plugs in firing order of the cylinders to help balance out the wear so they last longer can this be done on our engines as well to help keep the spark plugs lasting longer

Could be done? Yes
Is it worth it? I wouldnt think so. Guys do do it though.
You hit the nail on the head when you mentioned the difference in the block design. Your hemi should not see nearly the amount of oil in the cylinder that an aviation engine does. This is also a reason (among others) that people install catch cans in the new hemis

Plus, that would be a major ***** to preform on a regular basis. I've never had a spark plug foul, so in my 04 3.7, 05 5.7, or so far in this truck. So I would just recommend the usually scheduled maintenance.

My first set were way past due when I changed them, running 93 all the time they were not bad at all, was kinda suprised since they were the OEM coppers.

It also costs a lot more to have aircraft engines serviced. I would not bother doing this on automotive engines

So sounds like its just better to follow the regular maintence idk it was just one of those things tht hmmm I wonder if this could be done with my truck especially if I go with a better spark plugs when I change them just to help them last longer

def. sounds like way to much work, and like others have said, no fouling issues and people have run the stock copper plus well passed the recommended 30,000 miles

I've never really done research on it but I have seen alot of people say that the regular plugs burn better then the "platinum" plugs do
