Was going to buy some Air lift 1000 bags, but was reading the total control bags work better. Anyone have some experience to share on this? I've had the Firestone bags on my diesels, but that's with leaf springs. My trailer is a 28' V nose that weighs 8500# loaded. I pull it a dozen times a year to the races. Think the Air Lift bags will handle it, or should I spend the extra money on a TLC setup?

Also, has anyone had much luck with a particular equalizer hitch? Haven't used one in years since the heavy diesels I used handled trailers without trouble.

I have the 1000's and love them. And I wouldn't waste the money if your not gonna tow that often.

Also I use a Blue Ox setup on our travel trailer. Very happy with it.

AirRide bags and equalizer hitch

I have a equalizer hitch, trailer porpoising really bad. Added air bags. Still waving like a palm tree. Have Air ride bags. Customer support sucks!!!

Blue Ox 1500 here with a 37' oal trailer that sits around 8000 dressed with 1000 pounds on the ball. Pulls beautifully.

And the odd part, I went FROM a Hensley to the Blue Ox and prefer it.

Yes, I'm an odd duck.

Can't help on the bags. I have a cargoglide 2000 and a Leer cap on the truck and with 2 dogs, crates, chairs and other misc. crap in the back, with the trailer hooked up I still sit higher in the rear than the front.

I have the Firestone bags, numbers, equalizer hitch, and stiffer tires. When the hitch is setup correctly, the porpoising is kept in check. I find if there is too little weight on the tongue, the htrailer will porpoise. Our trailer is 6744lbs dry and loaded probably 7500 or more. Never felt unsafe.

I have Airright 1000 and a quad cab 4x4 Eco diesel and did a little test. Truck sits at 38 1/4" empty with 0psi in bags. 38 3/4" empty with 8psi (how I drive daily). 40 1/2" empty with 35psi.

I then filled the 6'4" box (with 35psi in bags) with wet white birch, over axle rating (1890pounds wood, 2500pounds truck) and measured. 38 1/2".

I didn't go over a scale until I was home, 350km later. Suspension felt like it was stock unloaded. Goodyear sra tires on the other hand felt very soft. At 39 psi rear, 40 front cold they leveled off at 42psi front and rear hot.

Very happy with airright100 bags for price, would need a much higher payload to justify better bags.
