Owned this RAM for two year and she finally gets to tow. [emoji4]

Installed the OEM trailer brake control and that worked as it should.

We we supposed to get a 21 foot trailer and the dealer had this listed, appraised as a 21 foot and priced as a 21 foot.

It's not a 21 foot, turns out it's a 28 foot.

She's sagging a little, I hadn't installed the weight distribution hitch yet. I can't wait to go to some new places now!

I'm glad I got the 8 speed with 3.92, a great combination to tow with.

Nice camper! I have a 26' Grey Wolf travel trailer and my ram with 8sp and 3.92 gears pulls it with ease. OEM Trailer brake is also nice, it automatically sets itself for the weight of your trailer. Happy camping!

i'm lifted with 3.21 and tow a 28 foot cruiser RV.. I can safely say my 3.21 tows nice too, can only imagine how much easier it is for you guys are red lights though :( Starting at a red light going up an incline can be somewhat tedious, but overall, nice!

Congrats, hope you enjoy the trailer.

Nice rigs guys! Although I'm very disappointed that the dealer allowed you to leave the dealer with a rig that long and heavy with a half ton truck and no WDH installed. I don't know what that rigs GWVR is, but from the location of the rear wheels it looks like it would have a lot of tongue weight.

I'd suggest you check your payload limit on the yellow door jamb sticker. Loaded for a camping trip with passengers you may be over your payload rating.

I may have stated this in another thread of yours. I can't remember. At minimum get a good quality WDH with sway control and check your weights

I wouldn't think it would tow good, it looks way off level with that sag. I agree they should of set you up better before you left.

Congrats on the new TT. A proper weight distributing hitch and proper set up will make your trips even more enjoyable. I feel your enthusiasm, have fun.

Trailer is 5300 dry, tongue was about 550. Trailer max is 7500. My truck max is 10150 with a payload max just over 1400.

A WDH would have made it better but it wasn't bad. I also was only doing 55 mph.

I do have a WDH, I didn't have the bars hooked up yet. Tongue was heavy enough and she towed great. If I started to have any issues, I would have stopped and installed the bars.

Is your reciever straight or does it drop. I had to pull a trailer before like that and had a 2in drop reciever. I turned it over ,the truck still sagged but the tongue of the the trailer wasn't as low. From looking at your picture it sure looks like more than 550 tongue weight. Nice trailer.

Yeah, there was a drop on the hitch. It's the WDH, just no attached bars so it wasn't able to be flipped. It's adjustable but not a quick adjustment.

Trailer is 5300 dry, tongue was about 550. Trailer max is 7500. My truck max is 10150 with a payload max just over 1400.

Just to give a little trailer math lesson that 10,150 number will never come into play. It's virtually impossible to attain. The payload will be reached far before that.

Take the 5300 dry trailer weight and add 1200# of camping stuff into the trailer (water in the tanks, propane, pots/pans, etc) so 6500 X .12 (tongue weight) = 780# off your payload, next subtract the WDH of say 70# so now you're down to 550# payload left for people and things in the 4 seats of the truck + the bed.

It all adds up super quick. Manufacturers and dealers do a HUGE dis-service bragging about the towing max. You should be okay as long as you don't carry too much in the truck.

I'm very aware of payload. This is why I did not get a 10000 pound trailer period I know my numbers and I stay within my numbers

Sounds like you got a deal on that trailer.
Best part is the priceless and irreplaceable memories it will provide.

Congratulations.

Now it is time for a set of tuftruck 1211 springs. Billsteins 5100's, maybe D or E rated tires, Sound proofing, just think of all the other goodies you NEED now, now that you have that trailer . . . . .

Just keep at it, slow and steady, and the Wife will begin to believe it too.
Remember, repetition, repetition, repetition . . . eventually, those purse strings will loosen.

There are a couple of camping forums that offer a lot of good advice on every thing you need to know camping.
