So I have decided on doing a motor swap in my truck. I currently have a 239LA in it and going to be purchasing a used 318LA soon. My question is will my A904-LA trans that is hooked up to my 239 bolt on to the 318? If not what changes will need to be made? Thanks for the help!

I'm thinking NOT.

727's are good & plentiful, and WILL mate up to an LA318, since that's the transmission that came with 'em. If you want an EASY mate, and some overdrive for interstate driving, get an A508.

yes a 318 will bolt to a 904 trans if that is what you got. all small block dodge truck engines use the same bell housing bolt pattern. all a 239 is is a 318 with 2 cylinders cut off it which is why it gets the same crappy fuel mileage as the 318.

as far as swaps go is the truck 2wd or 4x4? only reason i ask is because if it is 2wd you will need a drivers side motor mount extension plate which you will either have to find or make. i know i had to make one when i did the swap. since then i have found a proper factory plate for if i ever have to do the swap in the future.

Man, go for the 360. You'll be happier. 4bbl and Edelbrock dual plane. Nice mild cam, Heddman header's and you'll rock that truck nicely.
