Hello all. I have a spare 318 on my engine stand and I'm not sure if what I'm looking at is bad or not. The crank does not spin and three of the cylinders have a lot of rust. I need to know how bad these pictures look and if it's time to scrap this block. Oh and one other thing can someone tell what type of heads I have. Thanks

That block can be saved, use some penetrating fluid or some diesel/kerosin to break the rust loose. Without casting numbers, there's no way to tell what heads you have.

it is a late 80's early 90's block if it makes much difference. sometime people are looking for those just because they came with roller lifter but it is hard to say whether to save the engine or not. that is just so much rust. it probably could be used as a core and rebuilt but usually it is just cheaper to buy a rebuilt engine instead of paying to rebuild an engine.
