I can' t hear it with the windows up but today, I was backing my trailer into my pasture and had my windows down. Trans in reverse, there's a metallic rattle, almost sounds like a loose metal plate/skid plate. doesn't happen going forward. anyone else have this or any idea what it is?

Heat shield would be my guess.

Let the truck cool down. Crawl under it and start testing the various heat shields for wiggle room or looseness. My Old V-10 would do that, time to time, and sure as shooting, some heat shield would have bust loose at a mount some wheres.

That old girl had more than few places that contained tightly folded up Reynolds Wrap.

Mine had a "heat shield" noise, but it ended up being something loose inside the muffler itself.

I guess I'll go hunting under the truck then. Funny it only does it in reverse though.

I am usually really good at tracking down rattles and squeaks, but this thing was hard to find. I was under there a few times with a soft mallet beating and banging, but could not duplicate it. Initially the dealer told me it was the resonator, but only the muffler was replaced. Thankfully, the noise is gone. Good luck!

Mine makes a slight noise in reverse, I am pretty sure it is coming from the parking brake though.

It also use to make a noise, but only when in reveres (I think) at start up. It was happening when I had that feature turned on that prevents the truck from rolling back when stopped on a hill. I do not recall what it is called, hill assist maybe....I turned it off a while ago though, not something I need or care for.
