'16 CC 2500 Laramie 6.4... Power sliding rear window. There is a button on the dash under the front defrost button with a rectangle on it that I am assuming is for the rear window defroster and heated mirrors. However, there is no heated grid on the glass. Is this switch just for the heated mirrors, or is there some other form of defrost for the rear window glass?

My 2016 3500 Big Horn has the same button, and it does defrost the mirrors and rear window. However, mine does have the obvious heat grid on the rear window and slider. I'd say you don't have a rear window defroster.

You have the grid on all three pieces of the rear glass? Would you mind taking a picture of that? I'd really like to know how that works. It seems like you'd have a real hard time with the contacts on such thin elements on a moving surface. Thanks for the info.

Yes, all three segments. Here's a pic. I'll try to take a better one if this didn't show what you wanted to see.

Wow. That's interesting. I wonder how the middle glass gets it's connection. Mine is just smooth but has the button for rear defrost and it lights up. It hasn't been cold enough here to test it out, but I'm going to assume it just heats up the mirrors at this point. Thanks for the pic & info!

My 1500 had the button and smooth glass. My 2500 has the button and you can see the grids in the Windows.

It is confirmed. My "rear defrost button" only heats up the mirrors. I find that very odd, but that is what it does. The rear seats are heated, but not the rear glass... and there is a functional button for it? C'mon Ram!

ram's been doing that for 10+ years. if you didnt have heated mirrors, you wouldn't have the button. the heated mirrors are far more usefull then the rear defrost anyway.

I have lived in Colorado for 62 years and have yet to see a pickup rear window fog/freeze up. I have the rear window defrost on my 2014 just because it came with it and have not needed it and don't even know if it works. Your not missing much.
