I would like to know how to verify this.
I Already looked and mine only has two wires going up to the front from the tailgate connector.
I heard this means it does not come prewired. as camera ready ones will have 8 wires going up to the front instead of just the tailgate lock, which has two. Like mine.
All 13+ Ram's with the 5.0 or 8.4 radios are backup cam ready , so long as you install the kit , and get XAC sales code flashed .

Installing OEM backup cam

If you only have two wires going fwd @ the tailgate lock connector .... this means you need to install the long body harness which contains the other 6 wires .
The instructions for the install is posted in Mpgrimm2 post #10 as a pdf .
Read through the instructions and the thread a bit .
This is a simple kit to install yourself , two soldered wires and a couple connectors to manipulate. .. a 4 out of 10 difficulty for a DIYer imo.

This is the kit P/N you require sir .

https://r.tapatalk.com/shareLink?ur...&share_tid=53505&share_fid=17770&share_type=t

You can beat this price , but if you purchase it from your dealer you may be able to work the dealer flash of sales code XAC for free ! This may offset the cheeper price you may find on line elsewhere .
I would recommend installing yourself if your capable , it seems dealer techs jack up this install more than DIYers .
If this isn't something you would normally do yourself any audio shop can easily install this kit .
Myself and many other have installed this kit on multiple trucks and we monitor the thread I posted above so if you run into any issues or have Qs just post them there .

Good luck Sir
Hope this helps you !

I wish somebody would buy this already so it stops tempting me! It's a great deal, and I'd jump on it in a hurry if I hadn't spent so much on other stuff recently.

If you're at all on the fence about this, just go for it.

Me too. It would be nice to swap out the 2014 RA4 I already have for this and maybe keep the previous one as a spare.
If I wasn't paying rent and a mortgage at the same time I could swing it comfortably... and I desperately need to improve my front lighting for night driving and/or add fogs.

You should add this to your op ...

It's driving me nuts not having the extra cash to pick this up right now to use instead of the 2014 I have currently.

Upgraded from my 14 to the 16 and I love it. I was a little hesitant at first but got a good deal on one and bought it. Same part number GYSOT is selling. It's been in for 3 weeks no issues yet. Only thing I am missing is the SD media port I'm sending it to Navrepair to have them program it in and then I'm not touching it again LOL.

The more feedback I hear like that the more willing I am to roll the dice on putting a '16 radio in my '13 truck. It's a fairly big upgrade on the money scale, so I want some degree of confidence that it will work.

Your USB works? Mine is 14 and doesn't. They quoted me 199 to fix any issues but I don't really care about USB (I Bluetooth) and I didn't check SD as I have never used.

Since your the expert, the view differences between the 14 and 16, is it really worth it and that's a serious question. I know the screen color change which I have mine set and never change it anyway.

That's a tough call, but I like having things current if possible and I would like a 2nd shot to confirm that a 2016 RA4 can work in a 2013 truck.

So far no one with a 2013 truck besides me and getupkid has tried a 2016 RA4. This was early on and the fw versions were quite a bit lower at the time and we didn't have any confirmed ram fw version numbers like we do now.

Some benefits as I understand it:

- 2015 & 2016 ra4's have a slightly newer (2014) maps database
(can be flashed on 2013-2014 radios for $150 or we can figure out how to hack it on there. I have the files)
- 2015 & 2016 ra4's have 5 yr XM Traffic & weather trial included
- 2015 & 2016 ra4's have selectable themes (may just be the 2016's)

- 2016 RA4's have the ability to relocate the bottom menu icons in any order/customize.

Your radio from the OP has been confirmed to work in a Ram and has a fairly recent fw version that has worked for others.

If I could get a 2015-2016 RA4 swapped in, gain updated maps and ability to move those icons around, add well as not lose any features of my 2014, such as voice text dictation, then that would be great. But really I just want to see it installed in a 2013.

PS: what happened to the pictures showing the pn and fw version?

And the link to the conversion thread isn't actually there, just the text.
