I just finished up mudding and after several runs in so extreamly thick clay mud my transmission light came on and I would assume because of over heating, then the oil pressure dropped and truck was kind of bogged down it almost seemed like. Is this normal for those of you who mudd. As well as i couldnt drive straight through because of the layout so i would have to stop and turn and this is when i would get severely stuck, the first couple of times it was fine but as i churrned up the clay mud more the deeper the ruts got. Now the transmission light has gone down and the temp has dropped back to normal and oil pressure is back to normal just wondering about the first part of my post. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I was mudding once and as i left the field after one last run through a deep mud hole my whole truck bogged down and shut off, scared the shit outta me but started right back up and was fine. Dont know about your exact problem but id think it was just cause of the mud IMO

Do you have EVIC so you could watch the temp? If so what did it get to? I have never went over 150 even when towing as the coolers in 4th gens are awesome.

Never had a problem in mud or sand and I go fairly often (just went twice last weekend). Temps always stay normal. I'm guessing mud got caked on an air flow somewhere and caused the overheating. That's the downside to mudding.

I think the tranny light only comes on if its overheating.

I would invest in a bluetooth odb2 sensor and a droid or ipod to do some data logging if this is going to be a semi-regular activity.

I've ruined 6 transmissions in previous Ram's in the mud, lol. But we played in drilling mud that a crane or gin pole'd truck had to pick you up and out of if you got stuck.

Sounds like you overheated and might have started to burn something up (like a clutch set or band), but hopefully that's not the case.
