Just bought the new truck 6 weeks ago. It is a 2013 SLT v6, quad cab, 2wd.

We are in the process of moving from Connecticut to Tennessee. So because of the back-and-forth trips we have to do, I decided to trade in my loyal Dakota (2001 4.7 4wd 220k miles) for this new truck.

So far I am quite happy with it. I already took two trips down to TN (1100 miles one way).

First trip with a small utility trailer (1500lb or so) and few things in the bed, 3 people in the cab - averaged 18mpg at 65-70 mph
Back, with an empty trailer - around 20mpg at slightly higher speeds.

Second trip with a 3500lb boat and just me in the cab - averaged 14mpg at 60-65mph
Coming back empty, 8mph over the speed limit (that's my way of driving...) averaged 24mpg - not bad

Overall I was happy with ride, the power, all the gizmos, etc. And of course much better mpg than my old dakota

welcome to the forum! That's awesome about your mileage, very impressive. The v6 really does get great mpgs, you're blowing my averages out of the water

We are moving to Columbia, south of Nashville.

What I've seen with this truck, as long as the road is flat, the mpg is pretty good. It starts going down when it gets hilly, and the transmission downshifts a lot.
I think it has to do with the 3.21 rear end. I wish it had the 3.55. But this is what was on the dealer's lot.

But even with this setup, it did ok towing the 3500# boat - decent acceleration.
