So i recently leveled my truck and naturally i feel like its not enough...i come to the conclusion that i don want to go a whole lot bigger but just a little more something extra. A 1.25 or 3" body lift may do but do they hinder off road capabilities? A four inch suspension lift would probably be a little much lift and money. Anyone have any thoughts. Oh ya i will be adding 295/70/17 trail grapps or the 285/75/17 if this changes ones opinions. Thanks guys

Hmm I don't think it would be much of a problem. We've got some members on here with lifts that do some off roading I believe.

off road capabilities are increased by many things in relation to lift:
axle/ dif clearance -- get bigger tires. body lift will allow that
approach angle/ overall body (and center) clearance -- body lift will allow for approach and body, but the frame and drivetrain doesn't change, susp lift will help with all
wheel articulation and flex -- body lift will allow for more room to flex, susp will help with room to flex and more susp travel (droop)

A body lift is ok for some things but if you want to do any kind of off roading where you need ground clearance you really want a suspension lift. RCX has a 4" for about $1k where as a 3" body lift would cost you around $350. It would be worth the extra money for the suspension lift in that case.

Thanks for the input guys. Durango your truck looks good just curious bout keeping warrentys, had any trouble with those mods (level and body lift)?? The rcx 4" inch sounds great however they say that they are not reccomended for AWD models, unfortunatly my truck is one of those models. I did see rancho had a 4" lift but they say recommended tires 33.5" if i remember correctly. Any other suggestions? Thanks again to all those who have chimmed in

the struts i put in the front made the truck ride better than stock honestly and i havent had a single issue with them. the body lift didnt affect anything with driveability and theres no issues there either. warranty can only be void from a mod if the dealer can prove the mod caused the problem your trying to get fixed under warranty

You can run 35s with a 4" lift easy. It may say that due to the width of the tire but Nitto makes a narrow 34.5" and 35.5" tall tire. Those are the Trail Grapplers and are great tires.

Your truck is only AWD when it's in 4x4. :)

No it goes in to all wheel drive whenever the computer/truck feels the back wheels spinning....its the esp or ecp mode something like that...

Are you talking about tracking control? Or do leave it on AUTO 4x4 all the time (that kicks in whenever it needs it)? I've never heard of an AWD. Maybe I'm about to learn something new...

Tracking contral or stability control, i was under the impression that when the truck feels the back wheels slipping it reacts in the front end until that slip is gone. Correct me if im wrong but isnt that considered an AWD mode? or something like that? This is all in 2wd...I dont know it was a selling feature for saftety when my wife drives it. I have seen lifts that say not recommended for the AWD would this be what they are talking about?? Im starting to get confused haha

No.. Traction control more or less ******* timing in the motor to limit power and reduce wheelspin. Stability control is the one that applies individual brakes to individual wheels to prevent the truck from sliding sideways and what not (fun to test). If your little knob is in 2WD nothing is going to send power to your front wheels. If you put it in 4WDAUTO it will switch itself to 4WD whenever the bacdk wheels slip. But that is not AWD, it is just switching back and forth between 2WD and 4WD. AWD is a whole different thing.

Nope, in general most lift kits ARE designed for 4 wheel drive trucks. which is what you have, not AWD.

The only real AWD full sized truck i can think of is the Sierra Denali 1500.
