with little luck ive found nothing about lights behind the grill. right now ive got 4 hellas on a custom light bar out front but its starting to bug me a little how far out they stick which is why i took them off my 06 also. So im looking at the good ole behind the grill trick.... only issue is, im going to squeeze 4 of them back there instead of just 2.... and not just 4 500's either. mine are the large 700"s.
I know of a solution for my coverage issue but i just wanted to see if anyone has tried that or who has lights behind the grill?

I don't have any behind the grill, but I'd like to add a couple. That's going to be a tight fit with 4 in there though...

How do you do the behind the grill lights? I've never seen it in person just in a few pics.... I would like to do it and have them hooked into my original fogs also.

on the 4G's ill have to fab up some brackets to mount one high and one low on each side because of those tanks they decided needed to be up front for some reason.

also those lights are only 5" and my new 700's are nearly 7.75" tall. so theres more to cover. hopefully RFF will have a 4G tact grill soon and that will open up my options a bit as far as placement goes.

^^ beat me to it.

i dont think anyone has put the lights behind the grille on a 4thgen yet. just for the fast that you have no acess to them with out remving the grille. also not sure if there is any where to mount them. on the 3rd gens the grille comes up with the hood and the lights can mount on that support thats there. Not sure if you would even be able to get 2 500's in there let alone 4-700's

thanks, I like it but i used to love it and now i dont. i still want the light output btu i want toi clean up my front ed a bit, seems to bulky out front. i thought about a roof light bar but then i loss height clearance even if i went with a Roto bar and it flips down it wont be smooth on top like it is now.

and you can never have too much light.

i made it. there not much i buy if i can help it. only things i bought for that 06 was the tires, BL, and the lights, everything else around it i made in house.

i originally had all 4 of them on this skid plate combo but i lost 5" on my approach angle and kept hitting things.

i belive he made the bar but there is no need to have a special bar. there is a support in the front that you can drill and mount directly to it. heres is what i did.

Ok that looks easy enough! I'll have to do that when I get a good set of fogs.

^^^ that is correct, but you have to moddify your lights a bit to g them to angle down far enough. AND if you stand back and look that bar makes the lights sit high in reference to the opening between the center horizontal cross bars in the grille. i made that light bar to center the lights both ways (horz and vert) in the openings i used so the maximum light came through. that light bar i made actually dropped the lights 3/4" to center them.

ok i never paid attention to the up and down position of them. o well they serve there purpose. they are mainly for looks anyway. very rarely do i get to use them. You just have to grind down the plastic on the light housing a little bit to angle them down farther. to which i have still not done after havin them installed for about 10 months now.lol

just thought of somthing if you put all 4 700's behind the grille that is what 28" of used space? Wont that restrict the airflow going to the raidiator and cause it to run hotter than normal?

Dodge put those tanks their in an attempt to help with the aerodynamics of the vehicle. Unless you want to use different reservoirs and relocate them... I don't know how you're going to fit 4 8" lights in there.

I am, however, very interested to see how this all plays out.
