So last night I installed 2 inch wheel spacers to bring my tires out a little. I installed aftermarket fender flares and they look better further out.

I'm not changing wheels and I am going to cut. I just need some tips with anyone who's done this before or ran into this same problem.

- I already cut the plastic in the fender well where it was rubbing and that solved part of the problem.

- It still rubs at a full turn, but now it's rubbing on a metal piece of the frame.

- I'm guessing I can just cut an inch or so off of that metal piece and eliminate the rubbing.

Thoughts?

This is the piece on each side I'm talking about.

That first pic, depending on how much room you need. You could probably bend it back.

The 2nd pic will probably have to be cut and it's a pinch weld so it's going to be thick. I think it should be fine if all you need is a 1/2" or so. Again I'm no expert but at first I was think you were hitting on the suspension or something. lol

Yeah they both don't look fun. Any idea the best tool to use? To cut? Angle grinder?

I took a 5lb hammer to the firewall pinch weld to bend it out of the way, it gives a lot of room actually, about another 1/2"-3/4" depending on how aggressive you are. It will need to get sprayed so it doesn't begin to rust though since the paint flakes off if you bend it.

If you're cutting, then use either a die grinder or a grinder with a cutting wheel. Then use a grinding disk to smooth it out, jagged edges don't go well with tires. You will also want to put a coating on any exposed metal so it doesn't rust.
