I really didn't know how to title this but my question is..how bright or hot of a fog light can you install before the lens melt on a 2011 Laramie.I installed a set of 59k white lights the box is pictured below and don't want to melt the lens on the truck like I did on my old ford... but the dodge lens seem a bit more heavy duty. I already have them in and after a half hour I got home and felt the lens and it seemed hotter than what I was expecting.... does any one know how hot a light you can install

Those are 5.9k and you won't melt your foglights

I had these bulbs in a ford...the bulb was a bit closer to the lens than a dodge...and they melted them...

Hmmm... not sure. Maybe it's my type of thinking, but if these lights melted the lens on your other truck, why would you put them in a new truck... knowing that there is that possibility?

The temp depends on the wattage. Whats the watts on these? I run 9005's (65w) in my fogs and they are fine. I would think anything higher than 65w would start to melt things

The 5900K is reference to the visible light, not the heat.

5900K is the bulb's visible light output, not it's temperature. You need to know the Wattage on the bulb to know how hot it will get

the ford and the dodge are totally different fog light set ups and totally different lens style and material....that's why I asked.

I just went out to check the wattage . . I thought they were 55watt...but they're not.. they're 100 watts...There was so much Chinese writting on the box I had to search for the wattage.... I think I'll replace them with the 5000 K 55 watt I bookmarked on e-bay

Convert, for now.

small
Mine had the factory 9145 regular bulbs, I added Sylvania 9155's and they were plug and play, and alot brighter...not HID bright, but they are a simple plug and play like factory style plug.

I wouldn't run them. Could be a issue.

I can only imagine what that 100W is doing to your wiring harness.

I used to use the 100W H4 bulbs as an upgrade to the ****** 55w H4 in my other pontiac firebird. I used to blow them once every 1-3 months and it eventually melted the H4 plug on my pass side. I spliced in a new plug and then just retrofitted bixenon projectors and 55w HIDs.

Bc they are 100W the lifespan on them is ****, plus they get so hot they melt stuff. You get more light from a cheap 35w hid kit or even the new LED headlight bulbs.

Why don't you just run 9005's? Those eBay bulbs are just colored low quality bulbs and suck in the rain. Just buy normal 9005's and clip the guide. And for headlights do the same thing with H9's if you have Quads. it will increase light output by 30%, and you wont have to worry about those chinese bulbs catching your truck on fire.

Yeah, but if hes got quads hes going to blind everyone on the road. I'm not a fan of scattered HID light madness on a truck.. or car for that matter..

I've got quads...I put the 59k's in as High beams....they work fine and look good...and since you don't go driving around all the time with your high beams on the 100w is a mute point,I figured that since I already had them I might as well use them...as far as the fogs..I order a set of H-10 55w Xenon HID Super White bulbs that should be here tomorrow.......and the normal headlight I'll be upgrading to a HID kit as soon as I sell the HID kit I took out of my F-150 when I sold it...I was hoping they would work in the dodge but they lock in totally different in the housing

True, but if he aims them down some they will be better than halogens.

No it is referencing a kelvin temp aka the color you will get 5,900k..call it 6k.
Tats going to be white light with a blue tint.
